    Catfish for a Malawi setup

I would suggest synodontis petricola, they are a little bit more expensive than other syno's but they don't grow to big. I have 6 with my cichlids, with no problems.

    cynotilapia afra

Venting is the only way , but can be tricky. When I purchased mine the chap blew on the vent area which made the vent contract and thus could tell. But I'm not sure exactly what he was looking for. In other species I have it's easy as one looks rounded and the other oval, but can't remember of...

    Another epidemic?

First just wanted to say sorry for your loss. I'm gutted for ya. As water conditions seem ok, I thought maybe you have a killer fish. I've had aggressive fish actively seek and destroy 5 fish in as many days. Then went calm again. But I'm not sure this is the case. Has there been any stringy...

    Cichlids for a pond

If you can control the water conditions Africans would be ok as they are alga eater. I went to Tenerife in Spain two weeks ago, and at a water park there was a huge pond, which contained not only carp, but as Midas some Africans cichlids like afras and red zebras and so other American cichlid...

If you didn't put it in, then must be a youngster , how long have you had all you fish? Because to get to that size would take a while. Also looks like a peacock. Have you both male and female? I'd Not it could have been holding when you purchased. Cool tho

Lol, you wait till they get bigger, I have a tank of mature adults all full grown. If I have food in my hand they will almost jump out to get it, and if I'm not careful they draw blood!

Your jewel should be fine, although like so many fish no guarantee can be made. Lol they become more aggressive when spawning. I had a breeding pair about ten years ago, they breed rapidly and dominated one corner of my tank. Was nice to watch. As for your I.D, it's hard to say from the pic...

    help?

Some breeders would cull them, but I would personally put the silvery fry into a separate grow out tank and see how they turn out. Would love to see pics of all the fry if you can post some.

    help?

Just a stab in the dark, but dragon bloods are man made hybrids, so it is more than possible that the silver ones could be a throw back to one of the two peacocks used to create the dragon blood. ????

    Organic glass cleaner

Two more things your could try. I know you tried vinegar. But white vinegar works best, rub it on the glass, then using good quality kitchen paper soak in more white vinegar, place the soaked paper on the glass so it kinda sticks, and leave for 24 hrs then when you scrub it should come off. Or...

Needs help with setting up a 55 gallon African Cichlid Biotope

There has been lots of great advice on this thread so far, so I not much to add. Except try to find your nearest cichlid group, some meet regular and some like mine meet every 6 months. They normally have guest speakers, and great information can be found by its members. When they meet...

    Stripping fry?

Stripping is done as it will increase your yield of fry, and mainly done by those who wish to sell large amounts or those that have females that won't hold full term. There are several methods to stripping a female, including one which uses a turkey baster. The best and most natural thing IMO...
