    Bubble Anemone

They will move around until they find a suitable place that's jut right for them. Once they find that spot, they pretty much stay there, unless something is bothering them (i.e. other fish, flow, etc...)

    Duncal Coral not extending

When I did my original research on this species of Coral, it stated that it was from Australia, and that it didn't like too much light. They suggested that I move it into a shaded area of my tank, with a steady water flow. There is a good possibility that it was just acclimating or had been...

    Clam

I think Sea Clams: Tridacna Clam Species for Marine Aquarium Tanks has some. I have never purchased anything from them, but I have looked at their site a few times. This is just one off the top of my head. You can search for saltwater clams, and you should turn up many different sites. Hope that...

    Kenya tree stayed shrunk

Mine looks EXACTLY like that! Shriveled up and all. It just goes through phases I'm assuming. Everything in my tank seems to be doing fine. Other than my Duncan ( I started a thread today), I have no issues with anything in my tank. Mushrooms are expanding, Xenia's are growing rapidly, Green...

    Duncal Coral not extending

I have had this Duncan Coral for about 3-4 months now. When I first got it, I placed it in the substrate of my 55gal tank. The tentacles were extending out. After a week or so, the tentacles retracted, and since then, have never come out again. It is still growing. It only had a total of 4 heads...

    Kenya tree stayed shrunk

I have 2 in my tank..they go through phases like this. Anytime something is changed or moved near it, they tend to do this. Mine has stayed like this for a week or so, them a few days later, back to normal. As long as it comes back, I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep your parameters in check...

    Not Copepods, but maybe Amphipods.

sand turning purple? normal or no??

Corraline doesn't normally grow in the Substrate like that. In my experience, this is Cyanobacteria or Red Slime. You almost always see this in areas of weak or no flow. I would remove it, adjust your power heads, and check your Nitrate and Phosphate levels as a precaution. I have small frags of...

    Leather Identification

I've had this Leather for about 2 years now, and have never tried to identify it. I was considering fragging it for another tank that I have, but I would like to do a little bit of research on it before I do that. The color is more of a tan/beige and the size is about the size of a dinner...

Found a great LFS in Jax, Fl

I'm in Brunswick, and I always shop in Jax for my reef supplies. I mainly shop at Bio-Reef or Ocean Reef. Bio-Reef being my favorite. Their prices are a little more expensive than others, but their knowledge is what I pay for. They have helped me out countless times. I will check out this store...

    brown algea

]Bavass is right...two of the most common nutrients that cause brown or red slime algae/bacteria are Phosphates and Nitrates. Check your system's wate, and also your tap water or r/o water. If your fresh water is reading 0ppm, then it's in your system. There are many chemicals and supplements...

    Kenya tree?

Let us know what you learn. I have a few small frags (3-4") that I've had for a month or so. As far as I can tell, they haven't grown at all. My problem might be related to high Nitrates (appx 25-30ppm). I'm working on a way to lower than and hope that it solves my Coral problem.

    Pulsing xenia

I have about 7 or 8 small (3-4") frags of Kenya Tree and I have never seen my Yellow tang nipping at them. I also have a large Green Star Polyp (appx 12"x6") that he never touches. Sounds to me like he isn't getting enough food. I'm not saying to feed him more, just whenever you feed him, watch...

    My new 55 gallon reef

Ok.... I just completed a 20g refugium that i custom built to fit my stand. I have 2 tanks set up (75g Hexagon tank with 10g refugium....55gal with the custom 20g refugium). The 75 is down right now because I'm in the process of moving. I'm using my 55 to store all my live rock (appx 200lbs)...

    Pink Algae???

Thanks... I will keep an eye on it as it progresses over the next few months. Any question how it got inside my tank? Maybe some residual left over on some of the Live Rock that I purchased? Something I introduced into the tank?

    Pink Algae???

    Mushroom overload! What to do?

Post some pictures...you know that we all have a knack for seeing things in a photo..lol By the way, I have red, green, blue, and a few that look greenish-brown. But I don't plan on selling or getting rid of mine...lol

    Pink Algae???

While cleaning out my nuisance-filled 75g Hexagon Saltwater Reef tank today, I stumbled upon something that looks like algae, but behaves like a living species. I was scrubbing some of the red-slime off of my rock when I found this piece about the diameter of a soda can. When I originally looked...

    Ditching my refugium-good idea?

The light in your refugium needs to stay all constantly. If you turn the light, your algae has the chances of becoming sexual, then eventually dying off. If this happens, you pretty much lose the 8months of "nothing" for certain. Sounds to me like you have a reef system, if so, your Corals will...

What type of worm? Is it dangerous?

Oh yeah.... Chances are, you have more than one!

What type of worm? Is it dangerous?

Looks like a Bristleworm... You will mostly see them at night. They retract somewhat, and can stretch to more that twice its size (when retracted). By the way, don't touch them! They have a nice sting on them.
