    Betta vs. the Fluval Edge

I've had two more bettas try out my 6 gal, and both had no problem. That's 3 so far who were perfectly at home in a Fluval Edge now.

Any Experience with Aqueon Evolve Aquariums?

Hi. I actually ended up getting a Fluval Edge 6 gallon, instead. And my betta had no problems in the 12 with the tetras, so I'm doing an iwagumi style tank in the 6. Ask around about doing a mod on the filter. I think you can put a piece of plastic at the outflow to slow the water down. Also...

    Betta vs. the Fluval Edge

On several forums, including this one, when someone mentions putting a betta in a Fluval Edge, concerns are raised over whether or not the betta will be able to find the small opening in order to breath. I wanted to start a thread to gather some anecdotal evidence from folks who have kept or...

    My 12gal fluval edge aquascaped

Hi Miylee, How's the betta doing? A lot of people seem to think bettas will have a hard time in a Fluval Edge because of the small opening. Mine had no trouble whatsoever finding it to take a breath. I wanted to see how yours is fairing.

Do they eat snails like some other loaches?

Looks good. I'm glad you decided on the betta!

How to prep water for top off

That's what I've read, too. Part of the reason you want to do partial water changes is to add trace elements back into your tank for your fish and plants. That's why distilled water isn't recommended, I think.

How to prep water for top off

I would just treat a gallon jug's worth or more and keep it sealed and use it to top off when needed. It would be easier than trying to measure accurately for small top offs each time.

Do corys really NEED a school?

It definitely looked like some kind of mating behavior. And now they won't leave each other's sides.

Do corys really NEED a school?

I know this thread is a little old, but I looked it up when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my false julii cory, so I thought I'd post my experience. When I got my cory, I didn't know that folks recommended they be in groups. A few days after placing him in my tank, he started...

    Advice for These Plants

I grew swords years and years ago with a 50 gallon aquarium, and they were very healthy and vigorous growers, and I never used root tabs. I am using two kinds of liquid fertilizers right now, just started the second one yesterday, so we'll see. Someone on another forum suggested that most...

    Advice for These Plants

Yep. Those are the ones. Although, I made some changes while pruning last night and adding the new stuff. I'm still not at home, so thanks for posting them for me. :-)

    Advice for These Plants

I'm on my phone right now so can't post pics, but I have pics in my albums. I will post some pics tomorrow. I love my Fluval, too. Thinking about getting a 6 gallon now. Just love them. I read a post somewhere that 12 to 14 hours was ideal, which is why I went with 14. How do you figure out...

    Advice for These Plants

Have a Fluval Edge 12 Gallon using the "bright white" 42 LED light system that came with the tank. I have my lights set on a timer for 14 hours. I've had the tank going for two months. My ammonia and nitrites are 0, and my nitrates are at 20. My Ph is 6.5. I have a small gravel substrate. I...

    Question about Using Moonlights

That would be ideal, but the blue lights and white lights are part of the same system. You flip a switch left for white and right for blue, so a different timer wouldn't work.

    Question about Using Moonlights

My Fluval Edge 12 gallon came with a 42 LED system that includes a moonlight setting. It's quite pretty! But I have a question about using moonlights. I have my lights set on a timer for 14-hours per day for my plants. I know that both the critters and the plants need periods of darkness...

    My 12gal fluval edge aquascaped

Just Googled CPDs. Wow, they are pretty! Wish I had known of them before getting my cardinal tetras. What makes them so hard to keep?

    Betta in a community tank

The size of the tank probably makes a big difference. In a smaller tank, the fish can't set up their own territories. Some betta "experts" have even been successful at keeping two or three male bettas together in large, long tanks (30 gallons or more). One of the books I read said that in the...

I think you'll see a marked improvement with your plants on the timer. Consistency is supposed to be very important, and the timer allows you to just set it and forget it. thanks for the info on the substrate. And good luck with everything!
