Actually, I'd recommend an aqueon filter for smaller tanks. I'd use a quietflow 20 and it would work quite well. The self-prime feature is really useful whenever you do larger water changes and it's got a large post-filter to put sponges or ceramic balls for extra bio filtration.

They could. So long as the tank is large enough. Typically, they won't eat tetras so long as they are well fed. But, the only warning is you may lose a tetra now and then.

It looks like a green Severum to me. They're a large, peaceful fish as far as large south American cichlids go. They get to be 8-12 inches.

It is not abnormal to lose fry. My guess would be they are being eaten. If your worried about them, take the other Kribensis out of the tank and they should have a better chance for survival.

My heart is set, I own one already. Got her as a baby and she's growing up. Very peaceful so far, doesn't harass any other fish. She was kept with Bolivian rams when she was smaller and got along well with them. Hopefully since she's a female she won't break 10 inches.

My guess would be that the Dempsey got a little murder happy and the africans joined in. I wouldn't treat for anything unless you see fish acting ill or have fungus. Also, fish tend to go for the eyes when fighting another fish.

The tank they will most likely go into is a 36 gallon bowfront. It is moderately planted with tons of caves and caverns on the bottom. However, I do have a juvenile green Severum that is about 4 inches. She will probably be moved once she gets to be about 6 to my 50 gallon.

Do you happen to have a sponge filter on a quarantine tank that you could use?
