    Well its a 30g with pool filter sand, T5 lighting, hop power filter, powerhead, air pump, heater, large rock cave, misc shells and other rocks, few fake plants, also lots of coral skeletons.

    when you think of african butterfly cichlid, you think of color, but to my surprise, not colorful:( (thats what i want bright color, good with my naturally high ph 8.7-8.9) thanks everyone for the help so far

    Well its a quick ?, but what are some floating plants, That will do good with t5 lighting, preferably has roots growing into water and not fern or duckweed looking. Any ideas?:thanks:

    Im sort of setting up a breeder tank, Ive seen it done and I really would like to give it a go. If it doesnt work i can rehome the fish. Plus the dwarfs just dont have the personality as the malawi's.

    Id say so, most fish are scavengers and will go for the easiest meal they can. Its better not to let them eat a dead fish for fear of transferring diseases that could of infested the dying one.

    The jack could be a problem, ive seen some nasty ones. I love severums and plan on getting a hero sev, yellow/gold sev, and a red sev with oscars once I get room for a 200g. Imo i think the blue acara would work as long as it was a bit bigger.

    Cichlids and a stinkpot musk turtle

    Ive had a stinkpot turtle in the past and ive had a sideneck. Both seemed to eat goldfish quit well. I definately wouldnt try it with $7+ cichlids.
