i am starting a 55 gal community tank and i was wondering if i could use sand as my substrate. I was also wondering if it is still easy to use the gravel vac on it. and what sand should i use if i am able to.

what are some combinations of fish that i can put in a 12 gal nano reef. The substrate is crushed coral and there is about 13 lbs of lr in it. Any suggestions would be great.

i had this same problem but mine was a lot worse. the things were out at all times, not just at night. so i bought a blue headed wrasse and he took care of the problem easily. from when i first put the wrasse in the tank i could see him picking the little worms off one by one. hth

so i could use the florida keys rock from liverock.com and i will have no troubles with that type of rock.

what is the best lr to use in a reef tank. i have heard that fiji is the best, but i like the look of the florida keys rock from liverock.com. thanks

i have a 29 gal with 40 lbs of ls and about 15 lbs of lr. I currently dont have any fish in it and i just wanted to hear some ideas of what to put in it or hear what people have in their own 29 gal.

i have a 29gal with 2 maroon clowns and the substrate that i have in there now is the sand that you use in a pool filter. it looks real good in the bottom of the tank but it is just to fine and when the fish move around in it, some of the suspended particles cling to the glass and it looks...

ok thanks. my live rock is about 2 months old but i dont have any cleaners in the tank. i think i will pick some up.

i am new to sw tanks and i need to know if you are supposed to clean your live rock, if yes then how? i am getting stringy whitish clear stuff comming off of it and i just dont like how it looks. thanks.
