    Super Skimmer Stops Making Bubbles

Over the last little while, I have found that my superskimmer stops making bubbles. Usually if I unplug it and then plug it back in again, all is well. Today, no amount of plugging or unplugging will fix it. Has anyone experienced this with a Coralife Superskimmer. I don't like it absent. Jeff

    what skimmer?

The coral life is OK, but can flood on occasion. It's also an ugly thing. A skimmer I realise is not a place to go cheap. Jeff

    Eyes bigger than stomach

Doesn't sound like over feeding to me. Once my 5 year old absolutely demanded I take home an awful aquarium ornament of a shark with his mouth open. Turned out to be a great place to wedge zucchini. My 5 year old takes particular interest in how the colour of the pleco-poo changes with choice of...

    Starting New 25 gal Tank

Just one fish. You'll want one with personality that won't grow to big. An African cichlid, for example. Why just one fish? Jeff

See if I got this right (coralife skimmer pics) ((new pics))

I am curious too. The sump option, at least here, is not an option. Jeff

Coral Life Super Skimmer (for a 65) (Nib on output tube?)

OK. Thanks. Have mucked around as best I can. Only a few bubbles are now escaping. At the moment the tank is filled to the brim, I like the look of aquariums that way, but when I do the next water change -- which reminds me -- I will leave the water level a little lower and that will probably...

Coral Life Super Skimmer (for a 65) (Nib on output tube?)

Hi, I have the one rated up to a 65 gallon aquarium, which will be a bit small for my 55, but I do have supplemental filtration. I'll give the flex a cut and see how that works out. How bad are bubbles just entering tank? Jeff

Coral Life Super Skimmer (for a 65) (Nib on output tube?)

"nip" in quotes is correct. I meant nib. OK. I see. So the black the sponge will sit in the diffuser box 1 inch higher than the white pad, leaving a 1 inch gap of plastic? Also, has anyone had to shorten the hose return as it seems to really press into the diffuser box. Jeff

Coral Life Super Skimmer (for a 65) (Nib on output tube?)

I am confused. After returning the hunk o' junk sea clone, I bought a Coral Life Super Skimmer. On the output pipe, there is a small nib to which you may attach airline hose. Now if I use the bubble catcher, water comes out of the nib. Without the bubble catcher, bubbles. My idea therefore was...

    Moving a Tank

Hmm. Sounds like a lot of trouble. I know it's possible, but is it worth it. Is there anyone who could take your fish and then you could take your aquarium and live rock en masse to Houston or at least your live rock to get things started. I moved 2 fish tanks in the last month, none farther...

    water conditioner

Whatever you do, don't use a solution with Aloe in it. Your skimmer will go berserk. Will not chloramines, like ammonia, diffuse naturally. Jeff

    flourescent light bulb substitution

I have had a lot of luck with the home depot specials. I think you can buy about three for the price of one at the LFS. Jeff

I'd say just let them rest. That they're eating is an excellent sign. Jeff

They do look fab. Try a program like Picassa from Google and you can lighten them up some. Tank looks fab too. Jeff

    Stocking Question

You'll thank me for it! Usually, Marineland stuff is pretty good, but not in this case. One nice thing about the Seaclone was that it never returned bubbles to the tank, but you have to weigh that against it never pulling any scum from the tank either. It was quieter too. I am quite happy with...

    New FOWLR tank

Hi, Is a 55 gallon big enough for an eel? Also, what kind of eel do you have and is he a little promiscuous when it comes to eating? Jeff

    Stocking Question

If the skimmer is still in the box, I'd take it back and get one from another manufacturer. No matter how hard I tried mine just wouldn't skim. For $20 I got a Super Skimmer which while not the prettiest of things and does have a tendency to splash bubbles, is twice the Skimmer. Jeff

    New 85 gallon ... questions ... Pics.

Hi Angel, Confused threads. With regard to cycling, are you speaking of my 55 gallon that with all the old filters and live rock from the old established tank does not seem to have had an ammonia spike, or the beautiful 85 gallon with the clowns? Jeff

Power Filter Question- Emperor 400 or Penguin 350?

The Emperor's are noisy bastards. No doubt about that. They do seem like a heluva a lot of filter for the buck though. I also like all the extra space in the back for sticking stuff like extra media and so on. Jeff

    New 85 gallon ... questions ... Pics.

I didn't check for a week or so as I imagined I'd see one. No spikes over the last week though with three, albeit small, inhabitants. Jeff

Depends on the creek I imagine. Sounds like an infection/parasites that the minnows can deal with in the wild but not at home. Jeff

    Keeping minnows?

Now that is interesting. Could it be bad/wrong diet that is killing them off. Earlier, you said it took about a week before they became ill. Keep us posted. Jeff

I wouldn't feed them too much, but if I remember correctly, they like to chew and flakes won't do. Jeff
