    Do Mbuna like water flow?

They are not very loud at all. I would be surprised if you can hear it once it is in the tank.

    Kentucky Reef Club - BigBlueReef.com

Hey guys I just wanted to mention that there is a reef club for enthusiasts in Kentucky. BigBlueReef.com. We have regular meetings and hope to organize a frag swap this year. I'm sorry if this post is not in the correct area. Thanks.

    Fuzzy sps id please

I have had this for a few months. It has sprouted new branches and is doing great. It is very fuzzy. It has more hair like polyps than any other Sps I have seen. Any ideas on what it is? Someone told me green slimer but I'm not sure that is correct. The green slimer I have seen do not have...

    Led for reef tank?

It depends on which light that you get, what corals you keep, and how deep the tank. I have seen them anywhere from 6 inches to 4 feet above the water level. After buying them I would start at 18 inches or so and work up or down as needed.

    confused - fish deaths

Sorry to hear about your fish troubles. I would find someone with an established tank and get some live rock off them to setup your 2nd tank. It will already be cycled and if it is a well established tank without additions for a quite a while then you know it is velvet/parasite free. I would...

    Fish missing / dead ?

Any signs of illness? Are there little white spots or velvety appearance to any of the fish? Have they been rubbing on the rocks or anything?

    Reef controller question

I would check out a reef keeper lite or apex jr. They do temp control, timers, and more.

What to do with my sump...

I normally try to vacuum the sump during water changes. Yours looks closed in so I'm not sure you can do that easily. I have heard of people putting powerheads in their sump so it doesn't settle.

    Led for reef tank?

There are many great led setups. The problem is price. What is your budget? You want a fixture that uses 3 watt LEDs. If you are looking for a less expensive option then I hear the taotronics are pretty good. There are DIY kits from aquastyle as well. If price is not a factor then there...

    100g or 40g long?

Have you done saltwater tanks before? The biggest factor to doing salt is probably going to be cost. You'll need 100-150 lbs of live rock for the 100g which is not cheap. Skimmers are moderately expensive. I would really run a sump which costs money for the overflow, return pump, and sump...

Need some advice with my 90 Gal having a sudden nitrite spike.

I think the nitrifying bacteria are different for brackish and marine. I would expect a cycle after getting to marine range. I don't know a lot about brackish but I know fresh and marine bacteria are completely different.

    Help

I find live rock is cheaper and more established from local fellow reefers. I would check a local board or Craigslist in your area. It goes for about $2 a pound around here. The stores are $10+ a pound. So I always buy from fellow hobbyists.

    Sump tank

Sumps are to add extra water volume and hide equipment. So sump size is up to you. Ideally the bigger the better. Having said that, my sump is 20 gallons on my 75. I hear to go +1 on the size for your skimmer. So get one rated for 125 gallons+. I run a reef octopus nwb-150 on mine.

    bubble tip?

I have seen many references that anemones need more food with lower light conditions. I'm not saying t5s alone won't support one but it would benefit from feeding in lower light conditions. T5s are much less intense than say metal halides in most cases.

    ID on Protopolytoa?

Yes it is some type of paly aka button polyp. Yes it could have palytoxin.

What is this on my live rock

It can also sting fish. I would remove it.

    bubble tip?

I feed mine pieces of raw shrimp every 3 days. I used my grabber for my tank. It loves to eat and has really grown since I have had it. Feeding is highly suggested esp if you just have t5s. I have never heard feeding stresses them. Seems like if it caused stress then it wouldn't eat. I...
