FEEDBACK on SELECTION, SEQUENCING, and TIMING of adding FISH

Alternative to damsels Since it would be difficult to get these damsels out of a big tank with lots of rock, what alternative do I have, then? I've never heard of shrimp cycling a tank. Maybe there's a better method of catching these damsels? Thanks for responding, by the way...

FEEDBACK on SELECTION, SEQUENCING, and TIMING of adding FISH

I'm planning to upgrade to a 125G SWFO tank over the next year or so. The tank will have 125 # of live rock. I'd like to know if the following timing/sequence of fish to be added is acceptable. Of course, the tank will be cycled for a month, and I will put around half a dozen or so damsels for...

    AURIGA BUTTERFLYFISH QUESTION

I'm planning to get an Auriga Butterfly in a 90G SWFO tank. Now I've read that these fish prefer a salinity of 1.024-1.026. My current tank has a salinity of 1.021-1.022. Do I have to raise it up to 1.024? Over how long a period should I do this (gradually, I suppose) in order not to shock the...

Your opinions on planning a new 125G tank

Hi folks, I'm planning to upgrade to a 125G SWFO tank from my current 25G, which houses 2 tank-bred clowns, a royal gramma, a banggai cardinal, and a green clown goby. I'd like to get your opinions on the equipment and stock I plan to get: 1. 125G Glass Tank (what's a good, reliable...

    Experience with Blue Tangs

From your experience, how hardy is a blue tang? I've read a lot about them, but I want to get your experience. Is it easy to feed? Will they get picked on? How prone are they to disease? Last, will a blue tang happily survive in a 75G tank, with a Comet, Flame Angel, and 7 other assorted 3" fish?

If you have a COMET/MARINE BETTA....

....will it bother small fish like a clown goby (1.5") or juvenile clowns? Will they get eaten? How about shrimp and snails?

    Valentini toby

    Valentini toby

Do they really attack inverts aggressively (i.e., snails, shrimp)? Are they notorious fin-nippers? Want to see if your experiences match up with what's written about them....

    Copper Banded Butterfly Help

I have read and have heard that keeping butterflyfish is difficult. I want to hear from your own experiences on this as I plan to get a threadfin butterfly and/or a heniochus (poor man's moorish idol) and put it in a 125G tank with other relatively tame fish (clowns, gramma, banggai, blue tang...

    Possible Tank Mates?

yep, definitely too small for a shark and/or ray. you are free to do what you want, but you run a BIG RISK going down this path. if you have tons of money and a tank at least 10x the size of what you are planning, then you have a shot....

    Fish Compatabilty

yep, i suggest you wait a week so you can return the damsel. there's a chance he'll co-exist with the percs, but he may still get crazy over time. clowns can be pretty feisty too, considering they come from the same family as the damsels.....but i still suggest that you take out the damsel to...

    Fish Compatabilty

i had 3 blue damsels to start cycling my tank. i took them out and put 2 percs, a royal gramma, and a banggai cardinal.....damsels may look nice, but they're really aggressive. i don't think it's worth the risk. just give it back to the lfs....

    Ghost shrimp?

This will sound quite stupid, but I haven't seen my lone cleaner shrimp. I was out of town last Friday to Monday, made a water change Tuesday, and yesterday, I just realized that the shrimp was missing. I don't remember the last time I saw him - probably two days before I left last Thursday's my...

    Help planning a 75G tank

I'm planning to upgrade to a 75G SWFO tank by September 2005. What are the ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL materials and equipment I should get? What are the good brands for each, and what are approximate prices? I want to know what are good types/brands for: 1. the aquarium 2. lighting system 3. heater 4...

    Some questions....

    1. I top off my tank every other day...I have a 25G SWFO tank with four fish and 7.5# of live rock. What's the best way to pour in the water? The reason I ask is because the last time I did it, one of my fish probably got doused with fresh water (which may have been slightly colder), sank to the...
