    Ph balances?

Oh dear, I didn't know they could grow that big! Mines brown and spotty so I'm guessing it's a common one. The shop actually suggested 2 for my tank to keep it clean....

    Ph balances?

Well.. I'm not 100% sure yet...! I've got 2 mollies and 2 plecos and a random fish at the moment... My guppies died (I've explained all in another post if you did need the full(ish) story) and the random came in the bag with the plecos. I think I've just got normal plecos but I didn't realise...

Nearly at the end of my fishless cycle...

And yes, I think the Mollie did. Or could it have been that the water was at 8.2ish? Is that pH too high for guppies?

Also, if Mollies and guppies don't get along then why did the petstore sell them to us...?

Nearly at the end of my fishless cycle...

Also, my dad and I went to a pet shop and bought some fish. I didnt want to as the levels in the tank weren't quite right, but he was getting annoyed at just looking at the empty tank. We went into the store and bought: 2 plecos 5 guppies 2 MOLLIES And then we got an extra fish in the bag with...

Sorry about the REALLY late reply! Stuff just got on top of everything! Anyhoo, I have a fluval filter that was suggested to me by the pet store. It's got enough capacity for the tank anyway.

    Ph balances?

Hi all :) I've just finished cycling my tank, but noticed the ph was a bit high (just above 8.2) so I was just wondering what I can do to lower(?) the ph to about 7..? I'm not sure if that's a good number to aim for. I know certain fish thrive in slightly acidic and others more alkaline, but if...

Nearly at the end of my fishless cycle...

    It's 36 inches lengthways, 12 inches width ways and i think it was about 17inches for it's height/depth so it's about 120 litres/or 26G :)

I actually meant guppies and mollies. I'm not sure what compatability goes with the tetras. Sorry, I probably should've read what I wrote through first before posting :p

Nearly at the end of my fishless cycle...

Wry excited now! So I was just wondering what kind of fish I should be going for...? I like the guppies, mollies, tetras... But I've read that guppies don't go well together in a tank... I also want to get a couple of pleco's too :) Can anyone offer me some good, compatible fish to have to...

What are these in my tank?!

Thankyou :) Where did they come from? Off of the plants? I've never had fish in the tank as I'm still cycling it. How strange. Will they die off before I get te fish in? Shall I remove them when I put my fish in? Thanks in advance :)

What are these in my tank?!

Hello everyone, I'm currently doing a fishless cycle of my tank. When I first started I was recommended test strips to test my water quality and such. Since coming in here however, I was told I should get the API liquid tester which is fantastic! Only problem is, the test strips were telling me...

What is the best test kit to use to monitor Ammonia?

Hey guys, I went to my local aquarium store (im new to this by the way) and asked for water testers as I am doing a fishless cycle to start off with. So that was all good. Anyway, come today I bought another bag of gravel because there wasn't enough, and some plants so I can start my fishless...

But thanks for the advice :) I washed off my gravel today and put it in the tank, so I am now just waiting on that ammonia so i can start my fishless cycle :):fish1: x

    New Fish Keeper!

Got my filter, heater, and gravel. :) Bought 10kg cause the lady in the shop said it would be enough, but looking at the bag at home I think I may need 20kg... Ive decided to do a fishless cycle but now I'm just trying to find some pure ammonia for my tank... Which is proving to easier said than...
