He is definatly not a loach. He is missing the side fins and alot of other characteristics of loaches. He looks like a regular run of the mill pleco. I also don't understand the benifit the pet store has in lying. He one of the cheapest plecos they had. I am going to see if I can borrow a...
like I said he looks like a run of the mill brown/black pleco. I have never owned a loach. I don't even know what they look like. o'well Guess I am going to have a chat with my local pet store.
Everytime I look up molly diseases I always see black molly this and black molly that. In my experience though black mollies are some of the toughest mollies around. My black molly has survived though ich, velvet, and a mystery disease that killed off my entire tank.
On the other hand i should...
Sad news..... He died. I did an autopsy on him after he died though to make sure that I was dealing with in ternal parasites or anything other than ich. His inside were normal but the reason his face looked swollen is because it was covered in a thick white slime. (go figure on a white part of...
I know for a fact that it was sold as a taiwan pleco. I also found out that pleco was just recently found in taiwan. So one of 2 things either the pet trade is really speedy or I was lied to. I was able to find one google article on tiawanese pleco. All it said was that the first one was found...
I bought a Taiwanese pleco a few months back. I have been trying to find information on him. I have had absolutely no luck at all. If anyone knows anything about them or a place that I could find out please let me know. I am thinking that since Taiwan is mostly salt water he might do ok in my...
i have had the chance to research more and I found a rather informative link. http://www.thekrib.com/Diseases/ich.html#0 I have come to the conclusion that the swollen face is a secondary infection from the ich that was egged on by the other mollies bullying him. I have put him...
Thank you very much. The funny thing is that that is exsactly what I have already done. I still wonder what type of disease it is. A parasite perhaps? I have treatment already for parasites. It doesn't say anything about ich though.
I was feeding my mollies today and I noticed that my Ebony my black mollie is showing signs of ick. I am really worried about my orange molly. He is losing weight rapidly. I also noticed that one side of his face is very swollen. It almost looks like a large consentration of ick gathered at his...
Thank you for the links. I am going to get the medication in a lil bit. This problem brought another one to my attention. I was pondering on how my fish contracted the worms. I found out worms are all the same. Same worms people and animals get. I think my kitten has worms. I have left the top...
Ebony (my black molly) has had a bloated belly for awhile. I thought she was pregnant. About the time I thought she'd be ready to pop I put her in the breeder tank. Yesterday I noticed that she had something on her pooper. I looked closely and she was pooping out a worm. That same day I lost a...
For anyone who cares. I figured out the main problem. The motor in my filter was burnt out. Who knows how long it's been. My fish must have guardian angels watching out for them. I was trying to fanagle enouph money to buy a new on. Everyone was just as broke as me. On my way home I noticed a...
I am not honstly sure tiwaun plecostamus. I think. He is just a baby. Only about 3 inches. All I know is he is really pretty for a pleco. He's not just black. He also has lighter contrasts too. :)
None of my fish are from the wild. They were breed and born in captivity. I happen to check these things at any place I purchase pet supplies. I am sorry I became upset over the implecation that I mistreated something. I just became upset because I do pride myself in the way I do and always have...
He is doing just fine today. He never quit eating. No I didn't. Like I said I figured out the problem. On the other you are lucky. It does not happen often but it has happened to me before. Once quite recently.
alright you are talking to the person who prides herself on knowing as much about every livig creature as possible. (in the exception of adult humans. Because adult humans do inhumane things like take animals out of the wild.) I NEVER MISTREATED ANY ANIMAL. Think about it. Would you want to be...
I have seen stress affect Mollies allot. Even when I was a kid and my dad tested all the tanks. I also noticed that sometimes you will lose 2 mollies that hang out together when you remove one. If this is not stress from loosing a loved one when water conditions are tested....... Animals do have...
The last time I quarenteed a molly the stress alone killed him and I lost another molly that became all stressed when I removed the sick one. I really miss my ambiguously gay duo. After those two I know for a fact mollies can get attached to there tank mates. I am afraid the stress alone would...
The only problem is that the corries and the pleco are there for a purpose. They keep the tank clean. Hopefully soon I will have enouph money to setup my 55 gallon tank. As it stands now though I just don't have the money for that. I was wondering though does anyone know of a brackish algae...
How far do they stick out. I have seen many a case of ich. Sometimes it does kind of look like that. I saw ich raised before. But if they are very large bumps then it might be something different. Just from what you said though.... It sounds like ich to me.
