Haplochromis obliquiden. It's technically a lake Victorian cichlid but die to its aggressive nature it can be kept with other Malawi cichlids. And from the looks of it yours seems to be a mix breed of some kind and the common name for these is zebra obliquiden due to the vertical lines on it...

Can someone please I.D this fish

It's some variation of a geophagus. Maybe a colored down geo. Surinamensis but I'm leaning more toward a geo hybrid.

Psuedotropheus are best kept with other Psuedotropheus as they are algae grazers. And should be on a special diet.

Urgent help needed with my yellow lab fry

Lol yea that is correct. You will know when the egg sack is gone. They will look just like little fish. And the stomachs will not have a little ball on it.

Specific name and gender for cichlid?

In general auratus are aggressive. Not all fish are the same but I will bet that once he gets bigger things will change
  17. Cecil2010

Specific name and gender for cichlid?

There will always be a possibility of it happening. Zebras and cobalts are hard to determine sex just by looking at the fish. Venting is the only real way to know for sure.

Specific name and gender for cichlid?

Are you asking if they could breed with each other or just can they breed?

Urgent help needed with my yellow lab fry

It's in a home made bouncer that I made. I strip the female when she still has eggs and bounce them until they are big enough to swim on their own. Is the smallest tank vacuum that I could find. The netting is just a very fine fish net that I cut up. It is strung tight at the bottom to act...

Is a F kenyi, M kenyi, JD a good tank mate good for a

Or maybe I'm confused by the question. Are you asking which one would be best or can all of them go with a johanii?

Is a F kenyi, M kenyi, JD a good tank mate good for a

Kenyi can be very aggressive and I would not mix SA cichlids with Africans. Other than that it all depends on your tank size, filtration, and other factors.
  23. Cecil2010

Specific name and gender for cichlid?

Yea it defiantly has the body shape of a red zebra. But the horizontal shines lines make me think it has dragon blood mixed with it. It's defiantly some kind of red zebra hybrid though.
  24. Cecil2010

Specific name and gender for cichlid?

First pick is cobalt blue. The second one kinda looks like a red zebra but it kinda looks like maybe some dragon blood mix. Can you get a better pic of the second one?

Specific name and gender for cichlid?

Also looking for egg spots on the anal fin for cichlids is not a for sure way to know that it is a male. Some female cichlids can have more egg spots than a male of the same species. And the spots are not like a penis. They mimic the females eggs. +1 on juvenile male auratus.
