    Aquarium Of The Pacific Visit

After going a couple times I'm over it. Nice place but usually crowded. I do like how I can id at least half the fish easily. I also think its funny they have a bunch of foxfaces in the shark and ray petting pools :)

My out of control Kenya tree... started as a small frag.

    clowns !

^ we told him all this in another thread before he added the fourth. He ignored the advice and did it anyway. I think he was hoping to find a different answer to the same question.

    clowns !

The answer is the same as last week. It will cause problems. 2 clowns that have paired is all you should have, especially in a 40. I wouldn't try it even in my 220.

    bubble coral

Actually just woke up (I work nights) to find it opened up nicely. Thanks for the help guys. I have it all they way on the side of my tank on the sand bed.

    Future 180 Gallon Upgrade

I don't like egg crate either. But I also didn't want obstructions blocking the sand bed for my sand sifting star I've had almost two years now.

    bubble coral

So I just got in a nice order from Blue Zoo, they had rose btas on sale for like 75% off.. anyway the order looks great, mostly coral, but my bubble coral doesn't look great... It looks like part of the skeleton broke off and it is mostly retracted inside, showing a lot of skeleton. I am...

    What should i add first?

I agree fish first, if you're set on clowns I would definitely go with ocellaris clowns, small tank and those are the smallest clowns that I am aware of.

    Future 180 Gallon Upgrade

I have both and acrylic does scratch much easier. I have the low iron/starfire glass which I personally like better. As for buying used, have the buyer fill it with water to leak test it.. if it leaks I would move on it another, don't bother trying to fix it.

    Tang Question

Lol yes a temp home for a free purple, worth taking the chance for sure.

Should I quit while I'm behind?

Sounds like your light is the problem, maybe I'm mistaken, but aren't those stunner strips just to accent the tank? That and pc bulbs aren't good for keeping coral. I think you need a better light..

Update/I just turned in my hawkfish and copperband butterfly for a yellow tailed blue

Well you shouldn't have any nitrites, how about nitrAtes?

Update/I just turned in my hawkfish and copperband butterfly for a yellow tailed blue

... that is a questionable source yes, but you have many other reasons that we listed that probably caused the poor guys death

2 yrs in, still work to do

Well I have had my tank almost 2 years, still need to add coral and I plan at least a foxface. So many tiny frags are now huge, especially my kenya tree that is trying to take over the world.

    Clownfish losing its color

Lol I think u meant 1.020, but I agree salinity shouldn't matter, stress or diet. I agree mix in some algae flakes, might help with color..

Update/I just turned in my hawkfish and copperband butterfly for a yellow tailed blue

Sorry man, I know its hard to be patient in this hobby, especially at 18 years old... One clown will die if you keep 3 and your tang will not thrive :( You can't force the situation to work just because you want it to..

Update/I just turned in my hawkfish and copperband butterfly for a yellow tailed blue

I agree, tons of great fish but keep in line with size requirements, or at least close... I have had go from "doing just fine" to dead in a day.. No one is being negative, we want you to be successful and not have a negative experience. Its just a little humbling to realize when we've made a...

    75 gallon!

I think most pumps list the head loss, just measure from the floor to the top of the tank for a ballpark idea for headloss. I love the live rock from bulkreefsupply, I have two of their huge shelf pieces that are awesome for placing coral and providing some overhangs. I also bought some of...

    Starting over after EPIC FAIL

I would add all the now dry rock in the new tank and just let anything left over kick off the cycle. You don't need to cure it since it will do so while cycling the tank. Awesome restraint going slow and smart the first time. Horrible story, glad you're getting back into it though. It will be...
