@Brian_Nano12g Im thinking about buying a Finnex Ray 2 for my 20 gal High Aqueon and ditching the old light fixture. Im glad to hear that it fits nicely with the existing hood. Do you think I should go with the 24" or do you think i could get by with a 16"? P.S. Love the tank and the thread!

What did you not like about the T5s... If I buy a fixture I was thinking about going that route.

It holds 1 18" T8 bulb. It's not clear on how much wattage but I think it is a 15 watt bulb.

I have a 20 gal high with a couple of live plants. For lighting im running the basic florescent setup that came with the tank, aquarium model 24RFH. would it be best to switch out the bulb to encourage plant growth or spend the 80-100 dollars to by a new fixtures?

Would you just syphon the rocks? Would this not get rid of the bacteria that's in the rocks?

Yeah I'm familiar with the cycling process. Just the saltwater set up would be new ro me, as this would be my first saltwater tank.

Ive been doing pwc daily for the last 2 weeks and my parameters have constantly been reading what i tested earlier this morning: ammonia >.25 Nitrites > 5.0ppm Ive done back to back 50 pwc on a couple of days and the nitrites will bounce right back. Is this normal?

I've been doing daily water changes even 2 some days but nitrite is still high and ammonia is around .25. Is there any supplements that I could add to speed the process up? I've tried local fish stores to get some media that I could seed but I don't trust petsmart and the other shops are only...

Ok i did a 50 pwc... how long should i wait before i test the water again? oh and i did use a dechlorafier.

So i am in the middle of cycling my tank and was doing a pwc tonight. right after i finished i saw a little snail crawling around on my glass. I am assuming he was on some of my live plants when I bought them. Is there any remedy to kill these things off before they take over the tank?
