    Clean up crew

I have a question about a clean up crew. I have had my tank up for a month and have two blue/green chromis that I put in a week ago. When would it be ok to put a clean up crew in? Also suggestions on type and number of clean up crew for a 20gal tank with live rock and sand?

I was thinking about those. I want snails but no idea what kind to get. Also how many of each is a good starting point?

    Cycling

Well tank appears to be cycled cause my levels are within range after water change. I went ahead and grabbed two green/blue chromis'. I'm going to see how it goes for awhile. Now I need some input for a good clean-up crew? Also how long should I wait before putting them in?

    Cycling

Ok I'm kinda at a loss. I've had my 20g cycling for two weeks. I just checked my levels and it's saying Ph-7.8 Am-0 Nitrites-0 Nitrates-10 All of these are done with the API test. I have 20lbs live rock and 20lbs live sand in my tank. Is it possible to cycle that fast? If so how do I do the...

I've been looking up the Tao lights and think that's probably the way I'll go. Thanks everyone for their input on the lights.

I have a 20gal. I want something that I can use for coral but a lot less expensive

    Saltwater newbie

What are some good lights to get so I can read up on them? I would prefer something that can be clamped to the tank because I don't really want to drill holes into the ceiling or wall.

Also with this size of tank is a cleaning crew good. If it is what kind? I really like snails and hermit crabs. How many would be good and what kind?

On the rock I'm a little confused. Should I put the rock against the glass or keep away from the glass?

    Saltwater newbie

    Saltwater newbie

Hey everyone. I'm new to saltwater and wanted to start a topic so I could get everyone's input. My plan was to do a fish only tank, but after seeing everyone's tanks with coral I think that's what I want to do. I started a 20 gal tank around 3 days ago. I have 20 lbs live rock and 20 lbs live...

    fishless cycle

I haven't done any water changes since I read you don't until the nitrite and nitrate levels are super high. I haven't touched the filters since I started. I had Nitrites for a few days. I did add some conditioned water to replace the water that had evaporated. I've tested my tap water and...

    fishless cycle

Ok I'm completely confused with my fishless cycle. My 55 gal tank has been running for almost four weeks now and I just checked my levels. My Ph is 7.4, ammonia is 4.0, Nitrites 0, nitrates 0-5.0. The part that has me confused is I had Nitrites last week and my ammonia went down to 1. I redosed...

    cycling

Hi B, I'm using plastic plants. I'm new to this and haven't ventured into the live plants. I don't have any media from another tank. I have thought about putting some of the chemical with the live bacteria in it, but have read you don't need it if you use the ammonia
  23. dgso1036

    cycling

    Oops....I mean Ph is 7.4

    cycling

I have the tank around 81 degrees and the Ph is about 4.6. When should I start seeing it drop?
  25. dgso1036

    cycling

When should I start seeing the ammonia start to drop during a fishless cycle? I have a 55 gal that has been running for approximately two weeks and the ammonia hasn't dropped at all yet.
