More Pics They're a little bit bigger. Still tryimg to see what kind of Cichlids I have. They move so fast, it's hard to get a good picture.

Which light causes algae growth. Actinic or what? I'm starting to see algae. I have a coralife T5 4 bulb 54 watt with my 55 gallon freshwater cichlid tank. Should I put live plants in my tank?

I have the lights on a dual timer so the different parts stay on all day. 10k from 10 to 6. Actinic 6 to 12. Moonlights 12 to 8am. The actinic runs from 8am to 10am by themselves

No Algae yet. Been running it for almost two weeks now. How long does it usually take to form algae?

Well I had a very bad evaporization problem so I went another direction on a cover for my 55 gallon tank. I went to the hardware store and got two 24x11 pieces of glass for $10. The gentleman even cut the glass for the filter accessories. I will be siliconing pieces of filter tubing for handles...

It is not stapled to anything just lying on the inner lip of the aquarium and it has support by the center brace of the tank. The water does touch it a little.

I simply bought 4 feet of 1/4 inch I guess you could call it chicken wire 48x24 and doubled it over to make it 48x12 cut a small indented slot for heater and filter accessories and it fits right on the inside ledge of my 55 gallon tank. Total cost $4.00. Do anyone think this will cause any...

I just picked up this light plus 4 extra bulbs and a timer for $150. Was this a good deal? Will this work with my 55 gallon freshwater Cichlid tank? There's no live plants, I just want the light to brighten up my tank and have the simulation of daytime, dusk, and nightime effects of the moon...
