    Catfish Velvet

    My pictus catfish recently got velvet. I'm looking for advice on the best treatment. I've heard of reducing lighting, water changes, chemicals. When I get home tomorrow I'm going to start treatment. Any advice would be great. Thanks

    Nitrite too high. HELP!!!

    This is what I did for my tank which was a similar situation. I put about a cap full of vodka in the tank once a day for three days, it helps beneficial bacteria grow. It worked for me and my levels are now at 0. Best of luck to you

    I suggest going to your LFS and buying a freshwater master test kit. It's a liquid test kit that will allow you to get accurate readings on pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. My guess would be either your nitrite or nitrate is high. Gold fish also poop a lot so I would suggest a 25% water change...
