Up until now I have been a strictly planted tank kind of guy, but I am thinking about starting a nano saltwater tank. Before I go asking a bunch of questions I just want to know of good reads that can get me knowing the basics of what I will need.

Just put some new fluorite in my tank and it is super cloudy. Should I let it all settle or should I run my filter?

I have a 45 gallon tank with the following fish 3 bosemani Rainbowfish 6 neon tetras 2 black skirt tetras 2 rummys 2 harlequin rasboras 2 black phantom tetras 6 corys 2 ottos I have a Rena xp3 filter that had 350 gph (more like 300 now)

Would there be any benefit in soaking new fluorite in enough water to cover it mixed with a high concentration of fertilizer? Would it absorb anything? And if so would it all release as soon as you flooded the tank?

Have a few questions in regard to flourite and laterite. Is it best to leave the laterite on the bottom or mix it into the laterite? Would there be any benefit to letting the substrate sit in shallow water and multiple doses of ferts? How light(weight) is the flourite? Will it settle quicker...

All of my plants are thriving in my tank except my jungle Val. It is not growing and as far as I can tell it is slowly dying. Any advice as to why and how I can revive it? I have a dirted 45g tank with medium lighting and a DIY co2 system currently.

I just recently bought a co2 regulator and I am now looking into co2 suppliers. On the website of my local supplier is says they have both industrial and food grade co2. Is there a type that is preferred for co2 injection? Any and all advice is welcome :)

I am thinking about converting my 45 gallon tank from dirt to flourite. Any idea on how many bags I should get? I was thinking three of the 15 lb bags but I could be totally wrong. Any other advice is welcome a well.

My planted 45 has been set up for a little while now and everything is growing amazingly, I went on vacation and upping coming back my dwarf sag had sprung up to the top of the tank. It was fine for a few weeks and now it is all melting, nothing has changed and all of my parameters are in order...

I read that it is better to use mineral/vegetable oil instead of water in DIY bubble counters. How fast does the water in the counter evaporate and how much/if at all does it effect the CO2 system?

I have never done this but could you just remove the outtake (on a canister filter) and drain the water into a bucket instead of slowly siphoning out the water? Does anyone do this? Are there any obvious problems with this idea?

Finally got all of the plants I wanted in and just finished moving all the fish back in. What do you all think?

I know a good amount of plants adapt well to hard water but does anyone know of plants that prefer hard water?
