What did you do to cause that drastik a ph change

I'm knocking on wood it was the cowfish.... looks like the dogface puffer is gonna pull threw he seems to be getting back to his self... lfs ordering me a new porcupine puffer.... any suggestion for 1 more fish that would make a good tank mate? Also only 2 new fish were added before the deaths...

I've Ben reading but haven't seen anything as sudden and out of the blue like my situation ... not sure I grew up with aquariums and have a established freshwater but the financial loss on these saltwater fish are making me shy that it may happen again :/

What other level could drop so fast that they're eating and happy to mass death in 6 hours is my question

That's my idea too I just don't see the water quality doing that sonfast when they were eating and fine 6 hours prior

My lfs is convinced it was the cowfish...

I will check in the am but I'm sure they won't reflect the issue since we did a 100% water change... but now I think of it the powerhead was off it had stirred sand up and it was off to settle

I honestly didn't check we were in a panic getting put the survivors and into a bucket and cleaning the tank so they would have somewhere to go other than a bucket... in hindsight I shoulda tested but the shock of all the money and fish gone mind was blank. I guess ...

All levels were fine 2 days before and amonoa.was reading 0 that night... I don't test the water daily usually twiced a week... tank is 72 gallon bow front

Maxiflo 1400 I beleave the largest and yes it rolls top of water, can't remember oh 8.4 maybe? No skimmer fish only with live rock and no lid

What would cause the oxygen issue in the first place? Lfs gonna order me new fish but don't want this to ever happen again

What could cause these level spikes or low oxygen etch in a well established aged tank that has had no issues?

Perhaps your rite but I refuse to beleave everything was fine and eating for 12 hours then in a gap of 6 hours a bacteria or related took them out....

Idk about all the readings other than it.had 0 ammonia last night I did check that.... I just don't know why they would be fine eating at 5 am and at 11 all dead ... also the 2 new fish had Ben at lfs for past month I have seen them there before the purchase ....

Yes carbon and was kinda milky

I just don't see what would of killed them so fast when the new fish had Ben in tank 12 hours before I went to bed then in bed for 5 hours and all dead

They had a film on them was onlything to speak of...

The cowfish doesn't souly release the toxin when dead its also released under severe stress my lfs owner said

Also I have a well established cycled tank ... what else would kill everything dead in a 5 hour period out of the blue?

The addition of the puffer was my give away he acted a little aggressive
