    Goldfish vs. Community

The guppies I find in stores in San Diego come only in orange or black. There's not a lot of variety. I know there's other kinds of tetras but aren't they also susceptible to NTD? I like orange von rios! My tank other tank right now (29G) has alot of orange in there from the guppies. Are there...

    Goldfish vs. Community

I tried guppies but they make too many babies too fast. I want tetras but i'm deathly afraid of neon tetra disease! Also, side note, how do i retain crystal clear water? Even though I do partial water changes, my tank for some reason has a brownish yellow hue when i look at it from the side.

    Goldfish vs. Community

I think since i'm starting a new school year and since its going to be busy, i'll want to go for a simple designed tank with a relaxing scenery. Maybe a goldfish tank would be the better route for that. But then again, community tanks sorta have a simple, calming appeal to them. I definitely...

    Goldfish vs. Community

Is it possible to go with 1 fancy goldfish and then some other tankmates? Which brings me to the question: what tankmates can go with goldfish? I would like to have white cloud minnows with goldfish. That would be nice :P

    Goldfish vs. Community

Ahhh, I'm so indecisive! :( I like that rustle-bustle busy aquarium look, but I just love the way fancy goldfish look! I think i'll go with community tank and see how things go from there.

    Goldfish vs. Community

Hey guys! So I have a 30 gallon freshwater tank and I can't decide between Goldfish (orandas, ranchus, etc) or having a community tank (with tetras, guppies, etc). So i'll let you guys decide! :) Btw (in case you guys are wondering) I'm cycling the tank right now (fishless).

    Moderate Light Carpeting Plants

I have a sand substrate. And im dosing with Flourish excel. I thought microsword was a high light plant? i have a dual t5 fixture thats 28w. if i replace one of my bulbs with another 6500k, would i have enough light for medium light plants?

    Moderate Light Carpeting Plants

I'm using Seachem Flourish Excel. So i would have to get a c02 system to grow dwarf hairgrass. Or, would I be able to grow dwarf hairgrass under my current light conditions + excel? or should i just go moss?

    Moderate Light Carpeting Plants

Hello! I have a 29G tank with 28w light fixture and running a 6500k bulb with a colormax bulb. Are there any good carpeting plants besides dwarf hairgrass and moss? Also, what plants do you recommend for my moderate lighting?:):thanks: EDIT: No C02 Sand Substrate

    29G Fishless Cycle

Nitrates are 40ppm, im going to do a water change to get it down as low as possible. ammonia: 0 nitrites: 0

    29G Fishless Cycle

Alright, so i decided to not add the corys, but all together there are 10 guppies, and the ammonia: 0ppm. nitrites:0 So what now?
  16. D

    29G Fishless Cycle

Alright, so you are right, 2 guppies isn't enough. So i added 4 more to make 6 guppies, still not enough: ammonia: 0 So i am going to add my last few guppies remaining (4 more) and 2 corys. I'm thinking of angelfish, african dwarf frog, guppies, more corys, a few tetras. I don't really have an...

    29G Fishless Cycle

Thanks for the reminder, i completely forgot about pH. Here are todays readings, i forgot to check last night. Also I dosed what what left of my ammonia last night which was not much. Ammonia: .25ppm Nitrite: almost 0 pH: about 7.8-8. I think i'm going to put in 2 guppies from my other tank and...

    29G Fishless Cycle

Alright, I did a 75% water change and that brought nitrates down from off the charts to about 40ppm, a few shades lighter, but definitely above 20ppm. Should i do another water change to bring it down further?

    29G Fishless Cycle

So i guess my tank isnt cycled?
  21. D

    29G Fishless Cycle

ammonia: .25 ppm nitrite: 0 nitrate: off the charts, my cycle has probably been stalled or affected by the high nitrates so im going to do a large water change. Maybe 80% then i only have enough ammonia to do about 2-4ppm. After my ammonia runs out, im going to put 2 guppies in there to keep the...
