Went on a hike in the desert the other day and found a decent piece if drift wood. Have been soaking it in boiling water every 30 minutes, got most of the tannins out. Now I just have to wait for it to sink haha

If so, what materials ? What would I look for ? Any precautions I should take, like soaking in vinegar ? I was thinking those cloth like materials but I don't know because of the dyes. Plastic ?

I've had them for like 2 weeks, I'm hoping they aren't mysteries.

The darker one is what it looks like now, not sure why it came out so dark. The water is not yellow just for some reason my camera didn't want to pick up colors correctly haha. Also no more fake plants, yay! Opinions ?

Also the tank is 20g, I read that shells raise PH a lot. Is this okay ?

I plan on starting up a new 20g betta tank, I already have the filter for it but I have it running alongside with my already established filter in m already established tank. What I plan to do is set up the tank, put the fish in, then the filter. Will this work okay ?

I'm keeping sponges in my established filters to use for not cycled tanks, could just take the sponge out and put it in a tank that isn't cycled and it'll help ?

I picked up this HOB at a goodwill today for $3. It doesn't say anything on it except for aqueon. It was missing the intake tube thing so I just put panty hose over it, but the filter works really well.
