You have to look at the gravid spot from the back of the fish. If it's opened up in the shape of a square, they will drop within 24 hours. You won't be able to tell by looking from the side or the front.

Definitely the ammonia and high nitrates along with the warmer weather caused your problems. I also recommend keeping the temp in the low 70's if possible.
