If I'm not bald by the time this is over it will be a miracle..... Woke up, tested this morning (14 hours since I last tested): Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: <50 lesson learned: Don't test your parameters within an hour of a water change or you will get a false result that will send...

    Help!! Nitrates off the charts!

Positive on the tap water question....have tested it several times...always says 0 trates. Wish they would make the test color results easier to differentiate.... they are just too close for my eyes. What looks like 80 to one person could look like 40 to another....UGH. I don't think it's...

    Help!! Nitrates off the charts!

should probably add that I emptied the tank all the way down to the top of the gravel, so could the trates have been so high that they are still reading off the charts after basically emptying the tank? should I rinse out the filter media in a bucket of dechlorinated water? running 2 AC...

    Help!! Nitrates off the charts!

Any reasoning behind that?? Just wondering why I should expect a different result, since my tap water is reading 0 Nitrates and I'm adding prime and bringing the replacement water to temperature properly before adding it. Should I or should I not be wringing out the filter media in the "old"...
