Well guys, I guess I must be doin something right, today my angels spawned! I have a very yellow golden male and a beautiful blue female that seem to be very happy tank mates, I'm happy to see this, nothing has spawned since they were in the 75g. It's not a breeding tank and with the other...

Yep, I live in an apartment so spray paints are out, also because I don't like fumes around a stocked tank. The latex based paints work really well, but you have to be patient. The first coat not much will stick to the glass, but once the first coat is about 3/4 dry but still tacky you add the...

Thank you. I may end up doing a background, but I'm thinking when I get the plants where I want them it won't be needed. If I do a background it will be a very dark hunter green like I had on my 75 gallon, I liked it a lot Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

I think it was some that came from the smaller tank and then it spread in this tank while it was new, I don't think its too intense lighting because it would be higher up in the tank not just at the very bottom and co2 is pumped in and drop checker is in the green. It's receding now so I think...

Update time! Hey guys, its been a while so I thought it was time for an update. I was getting a little disappointed with the growth for a while until I looked at some of the beginning pictures and then I felt so much better haha. I have added a few fish since my last post, 3 denison barbs, 3...

Thanks tx! Did water tests today, not sure how to feel about them just yet. I think I need more time with the tank and the light to get a good trend going. I did the tests because I noticed some slight yellowing around some older leaves that I thought could be a nitrate deficiency. Nitrate -...

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words! I'm going to do my best to keep the journal updated for everyone, mostly for myself haha. My last tanks I started journals and got lazy, but this is as close to my dream tank as I'll probably ever get so I'm really trying. Schoeplein - thanks for the...

Got my BML XB today and its up and running. Man is it bright! We tested it out off of the tank first and it lit up the living room more than any of the other house lights combined haha. I feel pretty confident I can go plenty of plants with it, I do have a couple negative thoughts on it though...

Moving best ways to do it?

Not sure what bucket you have, they shouldn't lose shape though. Mine didn't and a 5 gallon bucket is supposed to hold, wait for it, 5 gallons. Haha. Also, lids are ~1.50 at the home improvement stores

Moving best ways to do it?

It'll be a breeze the second time. The substrate buckets, fill as much as you can. The fish buckets, I filled mine up to about an inch below the rim, with a good lid it's not an issue

Moving best ways to do it?

It's always really stressful and sounds like a lot the first time you do it. The second and third time has just been a routine for me

Moving best ways to do it?

I would suggest adding 2 3gallon buckets for the substrate and to lighten up the tank, but that's just me (I usually only have my fiancé helping me move stuff haha)

Moving best ways to do it?

I've done it both ways, depends on the size of the tank and depth of the substrate. It's more of a weight thing than anything else. If you can lift it, its fine staying in the tank. The more water you get out of the tank the lighter it will be, remember each gallon weighs 8lbs
