Nice tips on the ph. I did not know about the surface phenomena. very cool. At the moment there is a koralia 3..it says 850 GPH....should that be sufficient for the 75?
Also as we have started looking closer under the light we are finding living things on the rocks. There are some tubes...
After adding water to get the salinity down I think the water seems ok except for the PH. Ammonia 0 Nitrites 0 Nitrates 20 PH about 7.8. I'm would prefer not to mess around with chemicals. Should I worry about the PH? I assumed the sand was argonite? Is that a good way to bring it up? I...
That's great. The rock at least has stayed wet. Is the color just based on the colonies that develop? Can that be encouraged by anything in particular?
First off, I'm a bit new to fishkeeping period. I have a 29 gallon with some pictus catfish, tiger barbs and redeye tetras and a few plants. I have really been enjoying it and started researching what saltwater tanks were all about.
I came across a good deal on a 75 gallon tank including...
Thanks. So I have two of the little guys for now... Will they be ok in a 10 gallon (for a month or 2) and then eventually a 29 gallon? Or will they need an even bigger tank when they are full grown? Too bad about the lfs...seems kinda dumb to lie to make an $8 sale. oh well.
In terms of the...
I was told these were freshwater puffers and that as long as I fed them enough brine they would be ok with my tiger barbs, pictus catfish, dwarf frogs and redeye tetras (29 gallon tank I keep around 80 F).
Looking around they seem like they might be green spotted puffers? which need saltwater...
Is enough to just thoroughly rinse the test tubes with water after testing? I don't want to contaminate them with soap or anything and I don't think I have a brush that small either.
I don't have too much in there...I just put in a bowl, a small pvc pipe and a coffee cup to try to make some "caves" for them. I'll try to find that food. Do you think they can be happy in a 29 gallon tank?
I think it was the snails they were talking about sand. Definitely gonna bookmark the list thanks you. I am worried about the other form of MTS... I've only had our tank up 5 days and I already want more. Yikes!
great I'll try those. So far no one is messing with him but perhaps that is becuase everyone is settling in. There so fun to watch I'll be checking closely.
I have a new 29 gallon tank. It has 6 each of tiger barbs, zebra danios and red eye tetras. I also got a pictus catfish thinking it would help eat up extra food off of the bottom. Will the pictus be miserable without other pictus? It seems fine but I guess i have no idea to tell if it is...
Yes the pictus is fun to watch swim! I had been wondering if I should get two more because they like company. Do yours like to swim together? I'll look into something for more current I hadn't thought of that thanks.
Thanks! It is a lot of fun. We took a national geographic pullout to put on the back glass and then also made a mini collage. I'll check out the buy/sell stuff...does that kind of stuff ship ok?
Hello-
