I was just looking around the net a bit about water treatment systems, and I was thinking, how much algae friendly (but coral and fish unfriendly) nitrogen am I adding to my aquarium by using dechloraminated tapwater?
I'm wondering if the larvae will hatch and be released live in completely fresh water? It seems like my females are always carrying eggs, and I'm wondeirng how much of a snack my fish are getting from it.
Thanks for the replies. A few weeks ago I decided to begin dropping some flake into these tanks as part of my feeding routine, and I'm starting to see many more pods around. The Mandarin in my main tank is probably one of the fattest fish I've ever seen :).

Having dove in Hawaii, I would reconsider Tangs., particularly the Yellows These fish have been harvested to near extinction in some places.
When the herbivores are gone, the algae takes over from corals. Double disaster.
