I moved from test strips to API (drops added to tank water in test tubes). my question is... do you hold the test tube flat against the white or stand it up to view the color? for my ph it looks 8.2 standing up, laying against white it loks like 8.4

It appears that I finally got my trates down but now so is my ph. what to do...help please.

well...here I go again teeheee We got the new tank in place with rodi water (for now), 60# dry sand, I threw in the old filter from 12g when I replaced that and a couple live rocks. I am using a magnum hot filter for now, wet/dry filter is ordered and enroute. I will order protein skimmer...

I guess obviously rodi is best, but I am wondering if ro water is acceptable? Lfs 30 min away sells rodi for $1/g; grocery store 5 min away sells ro water .39¢/g.

I got new LED lights My mushrooms do not look happy but I cannot get them unhooked from the rocks the are on to move them to a less bright location :(
