    I do have a sump but I was thinking that I could maybe put him in one of those plastic critter keepers putting a rubber band around it so he can't open the little door on top and and putting a couple pieces of live rock in it and setting it on the sand bed in my DT.

    That's true. I don't think thats it because I have reef sand not oolite sand but the same thing used to happen to my mandarins In my forty breeders because they wood lodge them selves under the rocks at night to sleep and I had oolite sand. Next time I won't be as specific.
