Guppy either "Stands up" or sits at bottom

Hmmm...no treatments were working, he ate peas with no effect. Seems he was in pain, and was unhappy, so I euthanized him with clove oil.... Just not my luck this week :(

Guppy either "Stands up" or sits at bottom

Filter is sufficiently disturbing water, it has a venturi system that diffuses oxygen somewhat into the water, and yes I have had him from fry. Could it be fin rot? or fin nipping? If you look at his caudal fin? I going to feed him a pea, to see if it is swimbladder, any suggestions on how to...

Guppy either "Stands up" or sits at bottom

Hi, My Male guppy is ill, he was just sitting at the bottom of the tank. I then "quarantined" him in a breeder box. Here he either attempts to swim or sits at the bottom or Stands up on his tail. (see pictures). I have had him for around 2.5 years and the tank has been cycled for around 3 years...

Is it immoral to euthanize guppy fry...?

Hi, I have an overpopulated tank, that is soon to be swamped with more fry. I have heard that it is commonplace for people to give fry to Oscar keepers, but I have none in my region, and I think Clove oil would be a nicer end to life than an oscar. I wanted to know your views on euthanizing...

    Apple Snail Sexing...

Hi guys, I am not familiar with telling the gender of Apple Snails, I've heard it is something to do with a Lump that is there with the Males on the inside of the shell but absent with the Females. Is there anyway to tell from these photos, or are they too blurred... The snail had a triangular...

    Guppy Gender...

Ok, thanks I think he was a female then but has changed into a male. I suppose it is better getting 1 female pregnant if I put him in the male tank and he turns out to be a female then to put him in the female tank and get all the females pregnant..if he's a male. Thanks a lot!

    Guppy Gender...

Usually, I can easily sex guppies. However, this guppy is a pain as it has a Male anal fin, but it has a Gravid spot too. I have heard that sometimes in early development guppies can change gender, do you think this is what has happened? I have a few pictures but they are really bad quality so...

    GREEN water?

I had green water, a few months ago. I introduced duckweed and the water returned to normal within a week. Turns out the duckweed outcompetes the green algae that made my water really dark green. I could only see 10cm visibility. The duckweed is great especially along with weekly 50% water...

    Bottled Filters

Hi, I have used a DIY bottle filter about 3 years ago. It was in my 60L tank and was relatively primitive. Ordinary 2 Litre bottle - poke holes in it at the bottom, fill with gravel at the bottom to cover the holes. Cut bottle in half and cut lid and screw section off. Then turn top half upside...
