Perhaps they wouldn't give you a hassle but If it dies then you'd have to spend more money to purchase another one when you could just have one lay eggs and have a steady flow of snails coming in. Therefore, I suggest you get an Apple Snail. But it's entirely up to you that's just my opinion.
Actually I would recommend you getting a Mystery Snail. All snail populations are quite easy to control. Just don't overfeed and your snails won't overpopulate. Plus, Mystery Snails climb your tank wall just above the waterline to lay their eggs. If you choose to you can easily scrape the eggs...

True. That's the thing I've been doing research and so far haven't found anyone that keeps snails and shrimp in their tank with fluorite substrate. I worry because i want to have Malaysian Trumpet Snail feed off the fish waste, excess food and algae that might build up around the DW in the sand...
