My LFS has this in one of his tank, he has no clue what it is, I was wondering what it was. It's pretty neat looking and I thought it would be good for a fry tank. I however don't want to take any home until I'm sure it's not harmful at all. Anyone have any ideas?

I have a 55 gal freshwater setup already, I have a dual tetra whisper HOB filter on it now and I'm wanting to upgrade to the Fluval 305 canister filter. I was just wanting some ideas on what filter media I need to set it up with. Thanks
