Scarlet badis, I thought I had a male and female and bought them as a pair but a post from January led me to think it was two males. Now they have matured some more and I want to see what you think. The larger one is significantly paler but still has the blue on the fins. They are always...
So one of my guppy/endler hybrids is acting strange. He was swimming very slow and hanging out on the gravel. He is now swimming at top but still slow and kinda hanging his tail lower, so not horizontal. His gills look a little flared and he I really red around the mouth. Water params are all 0...
Actually the big tank is his, but he has dwarf gouramis and a Raphael cat that I'm afraid will eat the shrimp. I didn't care when I thought it was a weak batch but I feel awful putting them in there now.
so I had added 5 red cherries to the tank and I know 3 died, I saw bodies. at least one died after molting and I think the second did as well. so I decided to try again. I added 2 red cherry and 2 fire. they started to go missing and I figured they too had died. only had 2 cherry and 1 fire left...
I think low GH can cause the shells to erode, not enough calcium in the water. I added cuttle bone to my tanks to help that. Hopefully someone with more experience will answer.
I think I found my answer. I added 2 more odd ball endler males so now it's 3 on 3. they are still displaying but no longer chasing and the attention is spread out so the single odd ball is not being singled out. The tank looks a lot less frantic now and I have more color in the tank :)
Yeah, it's weird how blue they looked in m pic because they aren't really blue at all, mostly that orange/red color. Good luck and I hope you do well with him, they are awesome little fish :)
I have 2 males in my tank and they get along great, are very pretty, get along with all of my other fish. They love blood worms, daphnia and live black worms for treats and readily eat flake. I bought mine as dwarf rainbow thicklip hybrid
the center piece is a drift wood filled with holes and caves. I also have 2 small rocks leaning on the wood to make more caves. Then I have plants too. I feel like he could get away, but he'd rather stay out.
In my 9 gallon I have 4 endlers hybrids. One looks like a guppy while 3 actually look like endlers. The guppy looking one is constantly being chased by the others. No females, all males. The endler looking ones display and dance for each other but they def. focus negatively on the guppy one...
my heater exploded once after I forgot to unplug it when I removed it to save a fish. I put it back in and came back to a mess. Everyone survived just fine, I hope the same will be true for you.
