    90g adopted tank re-stock

Great suggestions, thank you! I like the chromis idea as a schooling fish, likely will pick up 3 - 5 of them. Will a valentini puffer attack these small fish? Having looked them up, they look adorable! Also, will a foxface fight with my raccoon faced butterfly (assuming he makes it to the end...

    power head placement

Awesome looking setup! Thank you for the suggestions on the powerhead placement. I will have to pick up a few more powerheads! On that subject - how powerful should they be? How many gph worth of powerheads should I aim at having in my 90g tank? Thanks!

    90g adopted tank re-stock

Hmm - chromis had come to mind, although I haven't done any research into them (eg. seriously considered them). Thank you for the suggestion though, I will look into them tomorrow. How large a "school" could I get for the tank do you think?

    Show me your puffer pics!!

Beautiful, both of them! I am thinking of getting a puffer.... provided it can be happy in a 90g, and get along with a bubble tip anemone / not eat my other fish. Wonderful looking fish, though, and I hear they have a lot of personality!

    90g adopted tank re-stock

Thank you for the reply! I did tons of trigger fish research over the last couple of day. I love humahumas, and have since I was a kid, so it's natural that I would want one! After plenty of research, I came to the same conclusion - they need at least 6 footers ultimately. Their intelligence...

    power head placement

Oops! heh, I bet dimensions would help! It's probably about 4 foot by 2 by 2, or something close to that.

    turbo snails

Oh.. lol, well, that's a pretty solid give-away. I figured it out once I saw mine with the body hanging out of the shell too... I've got one that hasn't moved in about 24 hours, so I am wondering... but then again, I have several others that also haven't moved, but I am guessing they are alive...

    power head placement

Hmm, since this looks like a great place for advice building the proper flow - how many powerheads should I have for a 90g? I adopted a tank, and currently have the returns split in two coming out at the middle pointing in opposite directions. These are driven by a Mag 9 (? - previous owner is...

    turbo snails

Bit of a thread-jack, so apologies - but how can you tell if your turbo died? (besides the smell!) Sorry about your dead snails of course!

    90g adopted tank re-stock

So, I have adopted a 90g tank! It came with fish too, although I would like to redo the setup and start a new setup in the tank. Currently I have a beautiful yellow tang, a big raccoon-faced butterfly with great personality, a six-line wrasse, and some kind of damsel. (If you live in...

    90g Tank - Stocking Suggestions?

So, I'm on the verge of buying a 90g tank off of craigslist, that should come with all the proper components and plumbing (fingers crossed). This will be my first tank, so I can definitely use any and all advice possible! At the moment I feel comfortable with tank setup - but now to determine...

Lighting is incredibly confusing for me!

Thank you Oyf and Saratj! Both help put a few things into perspective for me. Oyf, I've seen your replies around quite a bit, so I appreciate that we have an active sponsor here that provides actual advice too. I do have a few more questions. How powerful do I need these lights to be for say a...

    Need Help Getting Started

Yeah, I'll be following in an attempt to figure out how to put my first tank together too. While simultaneously pestering the forum with other questions.. lol.

Lighting is incredibly confusing for me!

OK, so... help? I would like to eventually establish a reef tank (although will be starting as fowlr as this is my first tank.) I am looking into getting a 40g tank, give or take a few gallons. I am trying to piece together everything that I need to buy, so that I can start pricing it all and...

    Reef safe star fishs

Hmm, saw a thread on here or another aquarium site that had a video of one that jumped a hermit crab that was its size (and alive) and proceed to kill and eat the thing. That video scared me off of them, heh. Wish I had the link to share!

Live rock has varely any life

Lol, thank you for saving me the headache and embarrasment of that Nikki! Deathly smell, eh... Whew, not sure my tiny apartment would have enjoyed that at all... Or my neighbors for that matter...

    Reef safe star fishs

Sorry for a mild hi-jack, but I've heard stories of brittles eating other inverts and slow sleeping fish... How dangerous are they in this regard? I love the way they look and move around a tank, but would rather not lose other creatures to a mindless brittle... :(

Live rock has varely any life

You can cure the rocks in a bucket with a heater essentially, from what I have read at least (new to this stuff, so others opinions much appreciated as well). At 1/3 the price - this would be a good motivator, for me at least, to find a way to re-cure the rock yourself. Niki is correct by the...

Live rock has varely any life

Ouch, that's pricey! Have you considered some of the online options? I was recommended bulkreefsupply.com in another thread (3-4 / lb) and i was looking at another online option that farmed their own off the coast of Florida (environmentally concious option which appealed to me) at a similar...
