Neon Tetra - Sick or Pregnant?

Hi all, I have 10 neon tetras and i noticed that one looks bloated/pregnant. I've read through various threads and information but i'm none the wiser. The tetra in question is still brightly coloured but over the last few days, all though still seems to have no problem swimming, likes to hover...

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

They all seem to be fine, very active and none of them are spending any worrying amount of time at the top of the tank. I tested the nitrite again about half an hour ago and it's probably just off 0ppm, no hint of purple

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

I have 5 and the 2 cherry shrimps. Usually a few grains once a day, I actually thought I was under feeding them so thats good to know. I try and remove any un eaten food but there usually isn't any, unless the shrimps are doing that job for me.

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

The others look fine, no change in colour, no white spots or fin damage of any kind. They seem all happy enough swimming around the tank and in and out the bubbles. How much wc would you recommend? My tank is 10g/45litres

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

As soon as I saw them (both in the morning) they had sunk at this point. I've lost 2 more since. They seem to have taken turns, but after the last one (last night) not one of the remaining ones have started acting the way the other have. Just tested again and it's 0.25! Last water change over...

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

After the death of the first fish the water parameters were fine, for two days. On the 3rd day after the 2nd fish death the nitrite shot right up. I had started feeding a small amount of shrimp brine, could that have caused this?

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

Been doing the daily water changes, I've been adding aqualibrium salt (after the water changes as said on the box) which seems to have eased the fish. I also added an air stone yesterday. Thanks for mentioning about keeping the light off, I hadn't been but I will do. I haven't fed them in the...

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

UPDATE: I tested the water first thing and the nitrite has shot back up again. Is this going to happen everyday until the filter can handle things again?

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

UPDATE: Did just over 25% wc which made little difference so I did a huge water change (60%) and it's come back down to 0.25 unfortunately lost another guppy :-( and one seems to have jumped in his place (at the top of the tank) is there a reason they take turns and not all suffer at once?

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

That's what it looks like, that I though would be because of the high nitrite spike. The others are all fine, swimming about. It's just odd how they have done it one by one

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

They spend a lot if not most of their time at the top of the tank, then they perk up and swim about a bit. They look as they they are breathing rapidly too. No distinguishing features though

About a month. It took about 2 months to cycle and ironically I was worried about getting fish in case this happened

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

The most I've done is a 25% water change and I always treat it and temperature match as closely as possible. After the first fish died Monday I tested the nitrite and ammonia, both 0 and the same Tuesday. Yesterday the nitrite was 0.25 ammonia 0. Then suddenly today it went sky high. I've never...

Help 2 guppy deaths and now a nitrite spike

I have a 10g and had 9 male guppies who were all doing fine (not all stocked at once but gradually over time) there hasn't been any fin nipping or bullying as far as I've seen. The water parameters were great, ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrates 40 then 20, ph stable. Frequent water changes, surface...

    Stocking calculator...

Thanks for the advice, I was beginning to wonder about the inch fish rule. Like you said it's good to see what is compatible and other needs, that's become really useful, as has this site :-D

    Stocking calculator...

.. Does anybody use these or are they a waste of time? I tried 2, one said that I could stock 25cm of fish so roughly 8 guppies. The other I used, I added 6 guppies and 4 platy just to see the outcome and that said my tank is currently 76% stocked. I dont plan on introducing all my fish at once...

Hiya! I hope someone can point me in the right direction, I'm currently doing a fishless cycle in my 45l tank, it's an Aquael 50 classic with fan plus 1 filter. 3 live plants. This is my first aquarium, I've been following advice from various posts and forums and I've now become stuck...

    A newbie

Hey everyone! I'm new to the aquatic world. I've just started my new 10 gallon tank and my daughter and I are planning on getting guppies when it's done cycling! I do have a few questions on the cycling process that I hope to get answers on, on here (somewhere)
