    When to change my bulbs?

That's good, reliable advice! I'll mark it on my calendar. Considering my fixture has no fans, I'll do it yearly by your advice. I think a year and a half had a noticeable decline in plant growth.

Good to know. I'll be swapping then out when I do my routine water change on Tuesday.

    When to change my bulbs?

Thanks for the info! Being new to plants in a tank, it's nice knowing from someone who knows what the symptoms mean.

    When to change my bulbs?

Ok. Considering it's been a year and a half, and my plants are not flourishing as well, I'll assume it's the lights since I changed nothing at all in my aquarium since. The only change I ever made was to take out the carbon, since I found in unnecessary to have after my natural wood stopped...

    When to change my bulbs?

Hello! I have had aquariums since I was a little girl. I currently have four tanks in my house, two nano, one ten gallon, and my crown jewel, a 55 gallon planted freshwater tropical community tank. I have had it running, plants and all, for a year and a half now, with no problems. I house only...

Anyone know what my chocolate gourami are doing?

It's what I'm thinking, I just noticed it. It is rather cute, though.

Anyone know what my chocolate gourami are doing?

http://youtu.be/ocEKDpXcNrA Linked is a video... So I have a pair of chocolate gourami. It used to be that they stayed separate, one on one end of my 55 gallon aquarium, the other on the other side. The spot they're in now once belonged to the boisterous one of the two, who would always chase...

    One sick neon tetra

Yeah, the other tetras are fine also. So at least it won't be spreading.

    One sick neon tetra

I decided to euthanize the fish. Poor little guy was twitching about, and after further inspection I found he was spitting out all his food. I put him in a gallon of water from his medication tank, and slowly poured in 250 mL of tank water mixed with clove oil. When he was anesthetized and only...

    One sick neon tetra

Will do. The white patches went away a bit, not as severe. But most of the red tail fin still has black speckles, and the spine is still slightly curved.

    One sick neon tetra

It's looking to be one of those three. He seemed to slightly improve with medication, but only slightly. Still alive in the iso tank. I know the scoop. If I get a rash, I go to the doctor immediately and tell them I work with fish keeping. But for now, I have too large a heart to euthanize the...

    Also, might this be contagious?

    One sick neon tetra

Here is the problem. I have a healthy school of neon tetras, except for one. I have had this school for a year now, and none have exhibited any problems, all tetras appeared near identical. Then I start noticing only one of the tetras swimming by himself most of the time. I thought nothing of...

I believe that is a tinfoil barb.

    Sick Freshwater Fish

It increases their appetite as they eat it, so they are more apt to wolf down the food rather than pick at it. It comes in a small glass bottle. You just put a few drops directly on the fish food before you put it in the tank.

    Sick Freshwater Fish

I know there's drops on the market made of garlic that's supposed to increase the appetite of a fish. You are supposed to put the drops on the fish food. That is also worth a shot.

    Sick Freshwater Fish

They can go a while without food. But still, it's not a good sign if there is no appetite. Did you try some thawed out frozen food like blood worms? I notice if my fish lose their appetite for all else, they still love to eat those.

Did you smash up the peas? The pieces may be too big. I notice my fish do that if the piece is too big for them to munch up.

    Sick Freshwater Fish

Gourami, various tetra, a bristlenose pleco, cory fish, and more recently, rams. I don't do anything harsh, unless the basic stuff doesn't work. So far, I never had to use anything other than natural all the way. I have a 55 gallon planted tank, and a 10 gallon isolation tank.

    Sick Freshwater Fish

When I quarantine, it is only because I just got the new fish from a pet store. Sometimes it comes with ich, fungal infection, or some manner of bacterial rot. All I've ever believed in using was the aquarium salt, and tea tree. I have never had fish get worse from it. On several occasions, I...
