My Flame Angel died last night.

Yes the PH came down to 10 and the salinity is up to 1.025 instead of 1.023. Yes one powerhead is rippling the surface and the other goes from one corner and bounces off the front glass about the middle of the tank. I did have a cyan bloom that happened all of a sudden too. Very strange to...

My Flame Angel died last night.

Well apparently their is a problem. The tang isn't doing so good. She's been hiding in the rocks for 2 days. I can barely see her and she's breathing really fast. I did a 40 gallon WC yesterday. Hope that helps. She hasn't ate in 2 days either.

My Flame Angel died last night.

The nitrates are usually 10-20. I asked on another forum before finding this one and was told with the fish and other creatures I have in the tank it wasn't bad. I do know a couple times when my wife had to feed them I found out she would just drop a frozen cube in the tank. I always thaw it...

My Flame Angel died last night.

Well the tang is fine. It's just hiding in one of her holes. The tang and angel were always together. Do fish grieve? I can't imagine what could have been on my hands or arms that could have cause a fish to die but I guess it could have happened. Might have been a little whiskey?

My Flame Angel died last night.

My wife just textd me saying she also hasn't seen our little blue tang all morning either. I just don't get it. The clowns and engineer goby seem fine she said.

My Flame Angel died last night.

My wife just sent me these. She hasn't done the phosphates or salinity yet.

My Flame Angel died last night.

Yeah I check the water weekly and will do so when I get home. It's a 75 gallon. The other fish are 2 small clowns (about 1.5 inches) small blue tang (about 2 inches) and an engineer goby. I have had the angel right at 4 months and it has ate and acted fine since the day I put it in the tank. The...

My Flame Angel died last night.

When I fed them last night they seemed fine. Only thing different is I added 2 new Korila's power heads. I went from one large one to two smaller ones on both ends. Haven't checked the water parameters in a week. I will do that when I get home from work. Could he additional power head or...

Any clue what this is? Its on about 1/4 of my rock.

Yeah I knew the pink and purple was coralline algae but now it's turning a rusty colored dark brown. That's the only rock doing that. Just had me curious. Thanks for the reply though!

Any clue what this is? Its on about 1/4 of my rock.

Also any reason why this rock is turning brown? It turning really purple and pink. Could my LED be too bright?

Any clue what this is? Its on about 1/4 of my rock.

I just started noticing this stuff about a week ago and it seems to be getting worse. Almost looks like a collection of dust. I hope someone can tell from the pics. I had a power head (suction cup) fall half way off and thought it was just sand. Obviously not! Saltwater aquariums are similar to...

Canopy renew to accomodate new LEDs

So I've been told. Mr X uses the same lights on his 300 gallon tank and has a ton of corals and they are beautiful!

    What is this called?

LOL, oops. I was putting the kids to bed while I was posting. Sorry about that.

    What is this called?

I'm a newbie of course but I bought a green leather and a purple pulsating Xenia from a friend of a friend and he gave me this green stuff. I think he called it green polyps, but my memory is horrible. Also the tan thing growing on it, is it a mushroom? In the last week it has doubled in size...

Canopy renew to accomodate new LEDs

Thank you! The new LEDs make a huge difference! I've added a big thing of pulsating Xenia's, mushrooms, green star polyps and a huge green leather. It's getting some color finally. It's coming together slowly but surely.

    Pulsating Xenia not pulsating.

I moved mine so it has minimal water flow and it still opens and closes very slow. This thing is about 3/4 the size of a basketball. I'm thinking of turning my LED up a little and see if that helps. Still looks pretty, just not the same if its not pulsating.
  18. Jimmye4fish

    Pulsating Xenia not pulsating.

I just bought this 4 days ago. Before it was taken out of the tank it was pulsating very nicely. I got it home, positioned it in the tank and it took a little while to come back out. It pulsates occasionally and when it does its very slow. I've tried adjusting the flow and haven't seen a...

Blue tang attacking my small clown.

Hmm I never thought of that. I knew the tangs needed at least a 150 gallon tank. We plan on moving in about a year and planned on upgrading to a larger tank about 200-300 gallons. I was going to put the larger fish in the big tank and put the 75 in our bedroom. I will have to read up on the...

Blue tang attacking my small clown.

I've had these fish since Christmas and never shady problem. We have 2 clowns (one a little larger than the other). The tang just attacks the smaller one and shakes the crap out of it. The fire angel and the tang are always together but the angel doesn't bother anyone. The tang is only about 2...

Canopy renew to accomodate new LEDs

It's a 75 gallon tank, 24 inches deep. The TT lights are about 1/4 power. They are extremely bright. Blues are amazing. All we have is fish, rock and one small thing of Zoas. The Zoas GLOW like they did at the LFS when I bought them. Love it!

And the TaoTronic light is only at about 1/4 the power. I used to think my LEDs were bright. My old on is on full power. Plus the TT has awesome blues.

Canopy renew to accomodate new LEDs

Thank you! I'm prob going to stain it tonight. Ibrealy like how the canopy came out. I'm also shocked at how much brighter the new light is vs the old one. It's day and night difference.

Canopy renew to accomodate new LEDs

Before After I haven't stained it yet. The new TaoTronics are on the right side. Original LED is doubled over on the left. My other TaoTronic TT-Al09 is on the way!
