Well I also hear that canisters are practically better that HOB filters. And as far the price...I can get anything I want. :) (not to be spoiled or anything)

So would a canister be better? I also am having second thoughts on the mudskippers. So I will not divide it, and it will be fully filled with water. I intend to use a SeaClear acrylic 40 gallon tall with an eclipse hood. Will that be enough gph, or will I have to add an powerhead?

Barbs...arn't barbs very aggressive and they might tear up the betta's fins? By the way I have not set-up the tank yet.

Well I thought mybe a forty or fifty five gallon would do. The forty will be about 36 in. long and the 55, 48 in. long. I thought since I will be using a piece of glass or plastic, I would need a long lank instead of a regular, or tall tank.

Simpler...on a first time with a moderate amount of help I was able to set up a successful and beautiful reef aquarium and saying I can't accomplish a brackish tank, I am insulted!

Well, yeah, I do intend to have an asian bio-tope in the tank.Sorry for not mentioning it earlier. :oops:

But in the aquariumfish magazine which I get says they should be in large groups or they will split up and show high aggression

but neon tetras need large schools that a 20 gallon can't control, for a moderate school you need at least 30-40 gallons because of their need of large school maybe 20-40 neons.

Well no only a standard plant lighting and no CO2.I have also heard that the plants will take up all the amonnia and nitrate or nitrite?I will be using flourite as the substrate because it is reccomended for planted tanks. :)

If I do use that combination of fish what type of filtration should I use for the tank.

Konichiwa! I want to set-up a 20 gallon planted tank for a betta and some coolie loaches. I want to add glass catfish but they need to be in schools of six or more, and I am afraid that will be too much for a 20 gallon aquarium.

Also do you know any good brands of protein skimmer?

I want to have glass catfish for the 20 gallon tank. But I am afraid the bio-load will be too big. Since it is reccomended to have them in schools in 6 or more. So would glass catfish be a good choice for a tank with one betta and 4 coolie loaches?

I also want to keep some live plants. Since I will be using some sort of florit or eco-rite it is gravel right. So I would like to have coolie loaches and corydoras catfish. I heard alot about ottinculus catfsish and I think they will be a good asset to the tank. But I want some fish that swim...

I have finally decided to not use a HOB filter. But I don't know if the SeaClone 100 can sucessfully clean the tank. If it can't, van anyone tell me any good brands of protein skimmers.
