I bought a eheim 2080 large canister filter about January 2013 and in the past 3 weeks it stopped working several times. Threw it out and bought 2 eheim 2217s. The old style canisters work great - I have several of them prior to buying the 2080.

Yep those are chiclids... The circulation pumps are aqueon 1650 pumps on each corner.

Sorry for what has happened. That's my worse nightmare - I have a 165 gallon.... I still would stress out if it even happened to one of my 20 or 15 gallon tanks. Good luck

Can't believe the out take flow has a extremely slow leak of a drop of water on the outflow hose. I will try either plumbing tape on the thread or silicone cementing it. Pissed

Does anyone know if it's alright instead of installing the outflow hose from left to right (across tank),if it will cause any harm to point it downwards instead ?

Thanks ... Maybe for what I need it for I can buy a small eheim one just to remove the waste that gets stored up when they are eating - other than this the water is crystal clear.

Does anyone know of any other product that does the same job as Vortex XL Diatom Filter. I just need it on occasion to take some of the tiny particles of fish waste thats builds up within the tank over time that my eheims 2217s don't capture. I have a 165 tank

Tank was set up about 7 months ago. No issues - just posting for my first time on this site. There are 22 mixes African cichlids. Not sure of exact names of them. 2 heaters, 2 2217 eheims, 2 aqueon power jets (2400 gph & 1650 gph).
