UK law regarding sale of apple snails

Hi everyone, I wonder if you can help. My apple snails have had a few clutches of babies now and some of them are getting to a size where they are ready to be passed on to new homes. I spoke to a guy at my lfs and I was told by him that they weren't allowed to sell them any more! Now this...

    Ich treatment not working!

As I mentioned previously, in worried about my panda corys - will they be able to tolerate that high a temperature? Shall I use a full dose or just half?

    Ich treatment not working!

Hi everyone :) I've been treating my tank for ich using methylene green/formaldehyde medication and slightly raised temperature. Unfortunately I have reached the end of the treatment and all of the spots have not disappeared. This is what I have done so far: Day 1: raised temp to 28...

Is this ich product safe to use with my fish?

It's no problem I didn't mean to sound criticising, it was a good suggestion :) I know it maybe sounds bad but I'm pretty keen not to kill the pandas or hatchets in particular as I had to mail order them which made them pretty expensive by the time you include to postage and they will be...

Is this ich product safe to use with my fish?

How long should I keep the temperature up for? Im a bit worried about my panda corys as they apparently don't do great at high temps :/

Is this ich product safe to use with my fish?

Oh dear, I have ich :( well not me, my fish to be more precise... I have treated this condition before on my goldfish and betta so have some medication in my box of tricks. The product is called 'love fish anti white spot & parasite' -a cheapo from my local 'pets at home' store so not sure if...

    Fish jumping out of tank

With the hatchetfish I suppose it could be the angelfish but he's never seemed to be hunting them before :/ in the smaller tank there are only harlequins so I don't think they would have upset the one who jumped.

    Fish jumping out of tank

I just can't believe they got out, the gaps are around 2"x1" and to have two in one night is double weird!

    Fish jumping out of tank

It was a hatchetfish (obviously known for jumping) and a harlequin rasbora. I just tested the water and everything is fine, so I guess it must just have been they were acting a bit strange after the move :( I've just noticed that one of my cardinals from the same tank as the hatchetfish looks...

    Fish jumping out of tank

I got up this morning and was upset to find that two of my fish were all dried up behind their tanks :( Can anyone offer me a solution for my problem? Why might they have jumped and how can I stop it happening again? Its very strange because it has never happened before, both tanks are covered...

    Apple snails breeding

I came in from work this evening and I think I may have walked in on a romantic snail moment... Can anyone with any snail breeding knowledge confirm that this is what they are up to? I'm pretty nervous because I really wasn't expecting this and have no knowledge of what baby snails require...

    Filter change?!

Did you throw the whole thing? They recommend you only get rid of half at a time if you need to replace for whatever reason, as unfortunately you probably will have to start the cycle again now :( Only other thing I can think of is can you rescue the old pad out of the bin and give it a rinse...

    Black Moor eye injury :(

Im really glad shes getting better, and even if she has permanently damaged her sight I wouldn't worry too much I'm sure she will be able to adapt just fine - it's really amazing how animals just seem to cope with things!

Best way to remove stick on thermometer?

Hi everyone :) My tank was second hand, and came with one of those black strip thermometers stuck to the outside glass. Well I didn't like it very much so ripped it off the other day when I got round to buying a glass one that sticks on with a suction cup. I've managed to peel off most of the...

    Neons

I'm pretty sure it's normal, but I would still keep an eye on him just in case he is not feeling well and that is the reason. One of my cardinals does that, he schools some of the time but also likes his own company. I've also got 6 hatchetfish, one of which thinks it is a bleeding heart tetra...

    New Tank- Which Fish?

My South American tank is 120 liters, which I think is around 30 gallons. Ive got similar stocking to you, and they seem fine in my size tank but I don't think I would go much smaller because of the angelfish.

    Wraping Up Stock

Oops sorry didn't realise you already got the neons (note to self, read question properly next time!) I guess if you've had no trouble so far with them maybe the angels don't associate them with food and you'll be fine :). I do vaguely remember reading somewhere when I was researching my tank...

    Wraping Up Stock

I would be a bit worried about the angels eating the neons too. I know some people have kept them successfully together but as neons are the angels natural diet in the wild I'm not sure i would risk it - how about cardinals instead?

    Sand

When I was changing from gravel to sand in my first tank I got a bit lazy and gave the sand a quick rinse and just dumped it in... And what a nightmare! I left it for around a week doing 50% water changes every day and the water was still like mud by the end, so I had to strip everything out and...

    Black Moor eye injury :(

When I was probably about 6 years old I was being really naughty and messing around changing the water in my mother's tank when she wasn't around, and I managed to accidentally suck a big chunk of her black moor's eye with the siphon hose :/ he was hurt and shook up so just went to hide for a...

I dont know what i want

Also the black moor needs cold water whereas the rest are tropical so they wouldn't be able to live together anyway if that is what you were planning. Have you considered getting one maybe two medium fish and a few smaller ones? My tank is around the same size as yours and I have 1 angelfish...

How do you build a stand for multiple tanks?

I just posted this in another thread, but I suppose it could be an idea for you? "I've made a stand out of some blocks and wood stacked up, okay it doesn't look anything special but painted black its quite unobtrusive and is super strong (my boyfriend sat on it to test and it took his 'more to...

got a new aquarium nowhere to put it

I've made a stand out of some blocks and wood stacked up, okay it doesn't look anything special but painted black its quite unobtrusive and is super strong (my boyfriend sat on it to test and it took his 'more to cuddle' weight no problem!). I guess if you were more DIY minded than myself you...

Please can someone check this stocking will be okay?

I might even give the ram a miss if I'm borderline overstocked, or at least until my levels are stable as you suggested. Thanks for the compliment, I'll be sure to let my poor boyfriend know that the hours he got dragged round looking for the perfect pieces was worth it!
