Fish are still alive! I did a little water change yesterday and the female guppy is moving around more. My pleco ate his algae wafer last night. I am seeing major improvements in the fish. My cichlids tank is cycling as we speak and I cant wait to get him in it! The male guppies whom are in a...
it's a 26 gallon. i got it in hopes that my cichlid will make it until it cycles fully and tests okay. if it doesn't than i will buy a turtle and put it in it  and this 10 gallon will become a tank for a simple betta...a fish i have always been able to keep alive lol.
i just tested my water and surprisingly the levels were all in a setting of "ideal" or "acceptable". i still did a bit of a water change.. mostly just to get some floating dirt out.
all fish are still alive; i was expecting them to all drop today honestly. the cichlid is still eating and active and so is the little neon. the pleco and guppies are on and off. tonight i am setting up the new tank. hoping the cichlid makes it til then!
Do I need to "cycle" for a betta? I just learned about cycling and I have never had to do this for a betta, and I've had 5 in my life all living years. They also all lived in bowls and one lived in the bottom of a plant.
I was actually thinking doing another betta, I've always had success with them and they are beautiful. Would a betta enjoy a live plant inside? I know some people use them in the bottoms of plants, but do the fish enjoy a whole plant?
As my last post on here stated, I am new to more complex fish tanks.
I was wondering what types of fish would be well suited for my 10 Gallon Tank? Also, what features, decorations or live plants would they need?
thank you everyone for giving me some great advice! i will definitely come here for information on fish.
and yes, i love how petco will sell me whatever they can to just get me out the door...because when my fish die i have to go get more, so they don't care. it's very sad...
that's sad, i really enjoy my pleco. i will take him to petco and hopefully they will understand. they knew i was unhappy today when they sold all these fish to my husband knowing we only had a 10 gallon.
the reason i have all these fish is due to my husband, he knew i wanted fish and then got me all these different kinds as a surprise. the oscars were all my doing but i didnt have time to buy a tank for my oscars before they died. petco said it was ick or something... but now i have all these...
It's funny that I just went to petco and asked for more help from someone who has an aquarium at home and once again someone told me that i could have 2 cichlids in a 10 gallon without a problem. i bought a new tank and will be transferring my cichlid and pleco into it since it's much bigger, if...
the cichlid is on a side of the tank by himself, i put in a divider. and im not sure how to check anything, i asked petco but there was never any sort of help. so i feel like i jumped in without looking lol.
