Thanks Tarpon. I actually hardly ever test the water in my pond. It's wet season here, and we often get over 3 metres of rain in 4 months, so anything I added to the water would be diluted almost immediately. Even so, I've only ever had 1 fish death in my pond in a year and I think that fish...

Thanks for all your advice. They seem to have settled their differences now. It lasted a few days but all good now. Interesting what you say about current. The filter is an 'aquatopia internal filter 400' suitable for a tank up to a max of 105 us gallons. (Pic included). That's 400 litres here...

I've had them nearly a year now with no problems and no other fish added in that time. I think he might be at the bottom of the Archer pecking order. But why stress out now? Maybe it just comes down to fish politics.

No extra spots. The spots that are normally black have gone pale. It's not easy to get pics of the fish in my pond (too much reflection), but I took one anyway.
