Why fancy goldfish require big tanks- visual perspective

I always wondered how people move pond fish indoors. Where I'm at if I had a pond in winter it'd freeze over so I'd have to bring them inside.

Why fancy goldfish require big tanks- visual perspective

I thought a funny thing to say about the one inch per gallon rule... A 66 inch adult female (my height) can live in a 66 gallon tank... which we all know is complete crap hahaha

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

I would have invested in better filters before I got my fish if I knew goldies were dirty. I have two big ones going now and he's doing great. I didn't find this site until about two months after my fish so I did some things wrong from the start but everyone here helped me fix it!

So my birthday is in a few months so I was going to ask my dad to build me a stand for my birthday. He actually asked once before so I'm sure he...

Swords don't grow large You can keep seven sharks in a ten gallon Bamboo stays small Hm.... Oh the age old fish have a short memory span Toilet flushing is the most humane way to euthanize a fish (it's not, it's the worst) The old bad tip of running the tank for 24 hours before purchasing the...

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

At my lfs they have signs stating each single Goldie needs 30+ gallons. Good idea right? But.... get this... the shop people suggest they only need ten gallons since you buy them small. Probably to sell you cheap so you come back later to buy more stuff for a larger tank.

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

He said it like fish only live like a month or so. They're surprised my fish has lived this long! The tap water I use for pwc is bad but it's also the best and most cost effective option. I just clean my tank a lot to avoid sickness and worse water quality

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

My parents visited me at school once after I upgraded my tank and they didn't understand why I have a thirty gallon with just one goldfish... my dad said.... "why spend this much time and money if they don't even live that long?" Fish can live 5-10 yrs. My specie of goldfish is thought to live...

Dumbest Aquarium advice you've ever been given?

I'm holding off on anything bigger than my 30g until I become a home owner myself lol or at least in more stable housing after I graduate college. I just moved to a new college apartment and it was hell moving my goldfish. I was at PetSmart and saw a 175g tank... lol I need it so bad but it was...

Why fancy goldfish require big tanks- visual perspective

My goldfish of the same breed, though different colors, was purchased super small. Just shorter than my pinky and thin. I had him in a ten gallon and he had stunted growth. I upgraded to a thirty gallon (just him in the tank) and he is now about the length of my hand. Granted I have generally...

I can't type... haha I meant to say steer him towards a different tank that would be an easy starter tank.

    closed ecosystems

Maybe I can steal him towards a different tank. What is the smallest tank you can successfully keep. I was thinking a betta in a five gallon for him, I'm starting research into them so we could each have one :P he and his roommate don't have the biggest apartment. So a five gallon would be perfect.
