I'm by no means an expert, but I do know this... CHECK IT WELL. I added about 25 more pounds to my tank last week and come to find out, one of the rocks is infested with aptasia. :banghead:

Or marine ick or whatever you want to call it. Either way, it started a couple of days after I got them. The smaller one has it the worst and I fear he is not long for this world. The bigger one seems to be doing alright. Water parameters are good and none of the other fish are showing symptoms...

I'm new and was under the impression you need it so there aren't any dead spots/detritus build up.

It is a fowlr tank but only has a HOB filter. Two clowns one purple firefish a goby pistol shrimp pair and two shrimp one blood and one cleaner.

Can anyone make a powerhead recommendation that isn't terribly expensive and would he adequate for a 20 gallon tall tank? I didn't realize it but the one I have in there that I was given is a 1500 O_O

I don't know if it is a member of the mantis family or not and yes the eyes were oval. I don't have a QT tank or anything so back to work he went. Although after the information provided earlier, I strongly believe he is a rock shrimp.

Sweet, now my next question is will it be ok in my tank with the other fish and shrimp? I have one purple firefish two perculas a blood shrimp and a skunk. Along with a pistol shrimp and goby. Its a 20 gallon tall.

I do, and I've cross referenced pics of mantis shrimp with mine. This one doesn't have any hammers and is currently buried itself in the sand rather than hiding in a crevice.

Well this is embarrassing. It won't upload the correct picture but there is a closeup of a shrimp. I believe it is a rock shrimp but I was not one hundred percent sure. Brilliantly colored underside and a rather dull rock looking topside. I'll keep trying to get the pic up.

So far I plan on having more inverts in this tank than fish. But I will for sure be adding a purple firefish and MAYBE one more depending on how much space I have left. I wanted to do one blood shrimp, one pistol and one skunk as well. Possibly snails or hermits as well. I want it to look alive...

I'm gonna guess its around thirty pounds worth. The pieces on the bottom are large. I guess the picture doesn't really show its depth.

It just finished its first cycle. The LR was already being kept alive by a friend that gave it to me so it only took about a week and a half. I don't really have any more room for any more LR either. The pieces I have in there already take up a LOT of room. Edit: front to back I mean. I might...
