I just used the latex based. I personally wouldnt use oil or water based. As far as texture goes, the drylok has a gritty consistency. So that combined with shaping the styrofoam works very well to create texture.

looks good...but Try using Drylok next time. Use about 3 good coats. Its very durable and there is no "curing time" involved. And you can use the cement colors in it as well. GE silicone #1 works good on attaching backgrounds to the glass. You can also use Great Stuff foam to attach it.

Finished highlighting and added some plants. Havent gotten into the "live plant" gig yet. Got the bracing started and still need to work on rehabbing the stand.

If you mean Great Stuff, it works really good on it. GS is what i use on my joints and grooves in my backgrounds. Just let the first coat dry really good because that coat will shrink a little. 3 good coats works good for me. Really durable.

Drylok instead of quikrete Drylok is much easier to use. Make sure its the Latex based. And you can use (quikrete, etc), dyes in it as well. There is no pH/Curing issues with drylok as there is with cement. 3-4 coats and your done. I've had NO issues at all with my backgrounds.

thanx Started highlighting it. Gonna have to work on the suction box though. Too square. Learning something every time I do one of these.
