    Tiny white particles in tank

I shut everything off for a few minutes last night, and it did all start settling. I was concerned that maybe I had a bacterial bloom or something else going on. I like a heavily stocked tank. If this is just a result of that, so be it. I'll just live with it. I made another vid to give...

    Tiny white particles in tank

My tank has been fully cycled for months. All fish are healthy. However, I've had these white particulates in the water for a few months now. It's never worse than this, and never goes away. Yesterday, I vacuumed the gravel and cleaned both filters. I did two 50% water changes. It's no better...

    First Big Tank - 90 G - Advice Wanted

I've seeded the tank and am dosing up the Ammonia. I bought the Ammonia from Ace. In this pic you will see a bag of gravel from our existing tank, as well as an old filter. I've since removed the blue filter media from the filter, and placed it and the bag of gravel directly into the new Eheim...

Help Me Stock My New 90G

My first Cichlid! It's a beautiful little female Black Convict. She's only about 1 1/2" long. Look at the beautiful colors in the fins!

    First Big Tank - 90 G - Advice Wanted

Thanks. The wall color was a compromise with my 14 year old daughter. She's very creative. I'm going to let her paint a "mural" on the wall. She wants to paint a diver and numerous fish.

    First Big Tank - 90 G - Advice Wanted

Here are some shots of the plumbing. I will be drilling an air vent in the top of the return line. When I want to drain from the tank, I'll simply plug that hole so that I won't loose siphon when it gets below that level.

    First Big Tank - 90 G - Advice Wanted

I made great progress today. I had the day off and put it to good use. The wall is painted. I also shot the back of the tank black. The tank plumbing is mostly done. Tomorrow I will paint the pipes that are inside the tank and hopefully get the drain line run. I'll also be running a supply...

Last night I discovered a fabulous South American Cichlid, the Rotkeil Severum. I also like the Firemouth and Acaras Cichlids. Any advice recommendations on those?

Help Me Stock My New 90G

I stopped by the LFS on the way home from work this evening, and I'm more confused than ever. As much as I love those little German Blue Rams, at 2 1/2", they're just too small to be the centerpiece fish I'm looking for. Am I going to have to do a South American tank with no schoolers to get...

Help Me Stock My New 90G

I'm currently working on setting up a new 90G tank. We currently have a 20G that's been up and running great for probably a year. We knew little to nothing about fish and have it seriously over stocked. Despite that fact, the fish and tank do amazingly well. As I set up this new tank, I'm...

I love Neon Tetras. However, my Pictus cat already ate them:( Of course, the dynamics will all be different in this much larger tank.

Everything I read pointed to that being a sump setup only. I wanted to go with a canister. I'm still going to use the bulkheads, just with stand pipes. Since I already have the holes, I figured it would make a cleaner installation. The back of the tank will be black, as well as the stand pipes.

    First Big Tank - 90 G - Advice Wanted

I'm taking a new look at this. We don't have to move all of our fish from the 20G they're currently in. I'm open to suggestions. I'm interested in color most of all. I want some decent sized fish, but also want some schooling fish. I like a lot of fish and don't mind pushing the population...

    First Big Tank - 90 G - Advice Wanted

Thanks for all the replies and advice. Great idea. Gouramis, Barbs, Tetras, Pictus, Pleco, Angel, etc. Just a wide variety of community fish. It's a little better than 1 1/2" deep. How deep is ideal? The tank is only setting here temporarily. The drywall in most of my basement is not...
