Honestly I've gotten okay growth out of leds. I've just gotten much better from other lights especially halides. And your right about halides becoming obsolete I'm seeing a significantly smaller selection lately which is what deterred me from them. Which is why I'm going for a t5/led hybrid. The...

I'm thinking definitely t5 led combo now. A 4 bulb ati sunpower in conjunction with my buildmyled 14k. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    125 gallon build

What I'm getting at is with the house at 65 and my aquarium at 80 degrees. I don't think it's possible with either lighting to exceed the 80 degree mark. Metal halides maybe if you put them close enough to the water but then you wouldn't get the spread of light needed to evenly light the tank...

Good Sump for 120 and 125?

For a 120 I would do a 40 gallon breeder. For a 125 I would do a 40 long. The downside with the 125 is you are only going to fit a 12 inch wide sump in the stand but you'll have more length to the sump. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Pic from august. When I get back from this deployment I'm going to add some t5's or maybe halides to the mix. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Can't tell if this is byopsis or not?

Phosphate checkers really aren't going to help you with gha since it's absorbing all of it as food. I'm having the same problem right now but I'm deployed and my wife is pulling her hair out. Just feed less and do more frequent water changes. If you're feeling really froggy you could start using...

They are doing pretty good. My main tank got ich when I was out of town and I lost my clownfish. I still had my 20 gallon set up so I went and got these guys and they will reside in the 20 gallon for the next 10 weeks. The only thing I had new was some live rock in the tank that got ich. I...

I have another 40 lbs in the sump to take take care of filtration. I'm not worried about the real estate since it'll probably only be running for a few years before I have to break it down and start over. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

I may have underestimated the buildmyled fixture. I started at 40% and my frogspawn, pagoda and acans closed up. I now have it at 25% and they are doing much better. Some of my zoanthids are being finicky and aren't all the way open yet. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Aquarium Advice...

    Building 55 gal stand

Not any particular reason other then peace of mind. 4 ft for me is alot of room for sag. I typically look at commercially made stands as a base line for what I can get away with because I doubt they would waste money on a center brace if it wasn't Neeeded. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using...

    Building 55 gal stand

Depending on how good of a carpenter you are. 2x4's would be easier. Look up rocket engineers design on reef central. I used it on my 125 gallon with 2x6's. And yes I would use a center brace. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    125 gallon t5 led mix...

My 125 gallon finished cycling a couple months ago. I have 1 14k buildmyled xb on it now putting around 80 par to sand bed. I want to add an aquaticlife 4 bulb 72" fixture to it to finish off the lighting. I plan on keeping a mixed reef with mostly sps and lps. Does anyone have any experience...
