55 gal new tank for goldies

Orandas are perfectly fine with other fancies and they won't be at any disadvantage at feeding time. They also can, in fact, get quite large. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Cycling question

Get a bottle of Prime and use it to detoxify the ammonia and nitrite while you're cycling. Follow the instructions. The ammonia will still be available to feed the cycle but won't be harmful to the fish. I hope this helps :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    buying goldfish

Goldfish will be perfectly fine at 72, but they're better off by themselves. I would strongly recommend changing at least 75% of the water weekly. Large stones will take up a fair amount of space, cutting down on room for the fish, so take that into consideration. The biggest risk is moving...

    Help is this a parasite?

It's kind of like a pimple of blemish, just like people get. Occasionally one of my goldfish will get one of these. They clear up on their own. As long as they have clean fresh water they should be just fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gus the goldfish - neurological damage?

Diet isn't the only cause of swim bladder problems. Sometimes the bladder is deformed or displaced. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Goldfish with possible ich

You can use the heat and salt method or if you prefer a medication, Aquarium Products Quick Cure or Kordon's Rid Ich+ work very well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Red patches on butterfly moor

While stunting can and does occur, what does not happen is continued growth of internal organs. I have read this article before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Juvenile Orandas fighting?

It was my pleasure to help you and I'm here if you need help again. Check for ammonia and nitrite in a few days just in case the filter isn't fully cycled. Fingers crossed that everything will be fine. You did a great job cleaning it for sure! Like I said, it looks like new! If you can...

    Juvenile Orandas fighting?

Oh, that's lovely! That tank looks like it's brand new! They're small enough that they'll be comfortable for awhile. One word of advice - really keep that gravel clean. I mean really clean. I'm just so happy for you and you did a beautiful job making their new home! Sending you a big...

    Juvenile Orandas fighting?

Give them a few hours to settle. They probably realize they're in a new place. Last week I put my broadtail moor back in my big tank after a loooong time in quarantine. Her tail was badly damaged by one of my males who was desperately trying to spawn with her. She needed a lot of time to let...

    Juvenile Orandas fighting?

Yeah, those can be hard to read sometimes. If it's fresh from the tap, there really shouldn't be nitrites. If there are nitrites in your tap water, that's a problem, but I really doubt that that's the case here. Interesting that the pH is lower, as well. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium...

So, just to be sure I've got this straight - the new tank water has 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 0 nitrate, and the pH is 7.6, right? And the old tank water has pretty much the same parameters? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Juvenile Orandas fighting?

You might be ok, but get that ammonia test and just keep checking the water parameters for awhile. If anything starts to go sideways, you can catch it early and save your fish a lot of harm and yourself a lot of trouble. For what it's worth, I've never run into a single person in this hobby...

    Juvenile Orandas fighting?

If you put all fresh water in the new tank when you set it up the other day, that's fine. If it has a mix of old and new, I'd be inclined to change it all. But that's just me. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice
