    Coralife Calcium Reactor

Anyone had any experience with this reactor?

    Coralife Calcium Reactor

15%/week pwc with Tropic Marin Pro. I drip 300ml/day of each component of b-ionic separately. Ca is 400-420. Alk is around 7.9-8.2 I never dreamed that the tank would get up to this level of consumption.

    Coralife Calcium Reactor

I'm tired of going thru 300ml a day of b-ionic. I have 180gal with a heavy SPS population and I would feel better having a way to dose Ca and alk when I'm out of town for days at a time.

    Coralife Calcium Reactor

Has anyone had any experiences with the coralife calcium reactor? The price seems very reasonable as compared to other reactors on the market. Any opinions, good or bad?

    Sick Feather Duster?

What kind of iodine solution are you putting in? Is it Lugols? If it is, be very careful. That is a lot to be dosing in such a small tank. Be careful dosing anything that you don't specifically test for-- many on this site will recommend that you don't do it at all. Dusters under stress...

    14,000K MH burning corals

I went to a glass shop and had 1/4" plates cut to fit the fixture. I removed the diffuser and installed the glass so now the entire bottom of the fixture is covered in glass... no UV should be able to escape. The 14,000K bulbs are back-in and I'm acclimating so we'll see what happens. Also...

    14,000K MH burning corals

That's what I've suspected too. It does have a glass UV shield on it (it's an HQI bulb so it comes with a separate glass shield) but the ends remain uncovered. I talked to Jay at Premium Aquatics about that a few weeks ago and he suspects some UV could be leaking out of the uncovered ends. In...

    Is it Because of Carbon?

It sounds like you are doing the right things so it's kind of hard to guess why your nitrates are that high. Here's a couple of things: 1) What is your bioload, what kind of fish do you have? How often and how much are you feeding them? 2) How "thin" is that layer of crushed coral? Crushed...

    14,000K MH burning corals

I keep my temp 80-81 degrees. The tank is in the basement and it's always cool down there so rising temps from the MH are not an issue. The phsical symptoms are lack of polyp extension and whitening of the coral on the branches facing up so it's obviously a reaction to these bulbs. The...

    14,000K MH burning corals

For the past year, I have been running (2) 150w 20,000K MH DE Coralvue on my 72 gal bow reef. I supplement that with 130W 10,000K PC and 130W actinic and use them to create a dusk-to-dawn effect. The MH photoperiod is 10hrs/day. I decided to switch to (2) 150W 14,000K MH DE Phoenix to gain a...

    feather dusters throwing crowns?

If your hermits are eating your snails, then there is a pretty good chance that they're bothering your worms too, although that wouldn't explain why your smaller worms are fine. I mention this because I had problems with my blue-leg hermits constantly harassing my feather duster worms...

    Fuge Algea???

Chaetomorpha seems to be the macro of choice for most members of this website. That's what I use in my fuge and it grows like crazy. I get very little algae growth in my display tank. I run the fuge lights 24/7. That's what I tried at one time. I used caluerpa, and gracillaria but the...

    Mogul v. HQI

I second that. I have (2) 150w Phoenix 14,000K bulbs and they're just as blue as the stock Coralife 20,000K bulbs that came with the fixture. But, they are much brighter and have more PAR.

Exactly right. My LFS held an elegance coral for two weeks before I took him home. I've had him for almost a year now and he looks great... he's going to outgrow my tank pretty soon.

    Ricordia mushroom experience needed

That is exactly what happened to mine, and they started to shrivel up. After I moved them partially under a rock overhang, they perked right up. Leave them where you have them for now, but keep an eye on them. If they shrivel or begin to lose color, move them so they won't get direct MH.

Update Pics on Tank Crash Recovery...PIC INTENSE!

Rev, The last post I saw after your crash, you thought that it was the Xenia that caused it. You mentioned a busted heater. Did the heater stop working and the reef temp dropped or did the glass casing crack and leak something into the water? Did the clam make it?
