Maxijet 1200 on DIY closed loop wavemaker

Thanks for the response. After posting my question, I have also realised that the flow rate on the MJ1200 would not suffice. Do you think this wavemaker design could be plumbed into the return from a sump? or would you keep it seperate? Thanks again!

Maxijet 1200 on DIY closed loop wavemaker

After having a look at the design on this site http://www.melevsreef.com/closedloop.html I am thinking of building one of these, but was wondering if a maxijet 1200 would work in this setup. Not sure if the MJ can be out of the water as this would be. Anyone know if my pump will work on this? TIA

    Clown in Anemone (pic)

Thanks for the PH advice, although the BTA seems to be set in his location and that nothing is going to be moving him soon. He is not as close to the PH as the photo looks. The clowns were wild caught.

    Clown in Anemone (pic)

Got the BTA from the LFS for £28. As ogden10 said, stings affect different people differently. I had no problem at all with this one. More good news is that second clown has joined and they seem to be having more fun than ever!

    Ntirite spike length?

Hi All, Just a quick question about the time I can expect a nitrite spike to last in my tank. I have seen the ammonia spike come and go, ammonia now at 0, but the nitrite seems to be pegged and not moving. It has been over 3.3mg/L for the past 2 weeks. The tank has been cycling for almost 6...

Hi All, Thanks for the help in the past. I have a question about having to move a tank about 4cm. This is my first setup and have my tank almost completed it's cycle. My ammonia is at 0 and Nitrites are dropping. I was told not to install a protein skimmer during the cycling, but rather to...

New 180 Litre Tank (High Amonia & Nitrites)

Hi All, Well I am 3 weeks in now and still seeing some strange test results: Ammonia: 1.5 Nitrites: 1.0 Both haven't changed much in the three weeks. I have started testing for Nitrates, and have found that stays at around 30. Is it normal for these levels to stay the same?

    PWC during cycle??

Hi everyone. Thanks for the help so far. I have recently started a SW setup and have had a few questions answered already. I have something that I would like to clear up: While cycling a tank using fish, a PWC would be beneficial to the livestock by diluting the levels of ammonia and...

New 180 Litre Tank (High Amonia & Nitrites)

Thanks austinsdad. I did read through your document, but was a bit baffled by the increase in nitrites during this period. 8O I did test for both during the first six days. Tested about every second day (perhaps more). Both were reading 0. Cheers Brett
