    Compatible fish for Bichir

I was forced to keep my RTS with my Bichir for a period of time. With My RTS's personality it seems that it will only be aggressive with fish that are willing to react to the "chase". Since the bichir largely ignores any tankmates that can't be considered food the RTS is mostly complacent with...

    Compatible fish for Bichir

In my experience with a Delhezi it is perfectly willing to even kill fish outside the "fits in it's mouth" rule. I've lost at least 5 full grown Congo tetras to them when the Delhezi was only about 5 to 6 inches. The only fish I have successfully kept with Delhezi is African Butterfly Fish...

Free: Locals to Lakeland FL - African Water Fern

I don't know anything about the swap meet. You have any details? I forgot to update. I have some left. Maybe 10 clumps. I'll have to count again.

Free: Locals to Lakeland FL - African Water Fern

I have some African water fern I need to get rid of. Is anyone interested? I feel bad wasting these plants. I have quite a bit of it. Some of the leaves have a bit of algae. I have about 26 clumps with at least 5 leaves on each runner most have more. Let me know if you're in Lakeland and are...

    Fish Identification?

I didn't see a spot for this but I got a feeder with my shrimp today. I kinda like it but I can't tell if it's some sort of platy, molly, or female guppy. Couldn't find something that looked close enough. Hope someone can help me. Sorry for the glare off the white rock. I have a single LED...

    Idea for a new tank

Yeah lots of farms here but I like gunpowder's facility a lot. Seems like they don't just breed fish to make money, they appear to actually care about their fish. Plus I enjoy the extensive variety of oddballs they have and the fact that almost everything is captive bred I feel better about...

    Idea for a new tank

I do have a pretty good LFS. Some of the harder to find stuff like Emperor Tetras and Lemon Tetras I know they can special order but if not I can get them from online stores. I like Gunpowder Aquatics because they are a pretty local breeder in FL. I will be doing live plants. My current...

    Idea for a new tank

Ah. Was only looking at the color. Didn't even realize they were so small. What if I sub out the SAE and Ember Tetras with peppered corys? Sent from my SM-N910T using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Idea for a new tank

Alright. After doing some research I have come up with a new idea. Doesn't look like there are many solitary fish that mix well with with my smaller selections so I decided to go with a nice shoaling tank. 10x Cardinal Tetras 10x Ember Tetras 10x Emperor Tetras 10x Lemon Tetras 5x Bolivian Ram...

    Idea for a new tank

That's unfortunate about the Badis. Really pretty fish. And I am sorry for your losses. I hope your remaining soldier can get more company soon. I was looking for a centerpiece fish so I would prefer to get something that will do well on it's own or in pairs, has a different shape than the...

    Idea for a new tank

Red line torpedo barbs are pretty, I was looking into those until I decided I wanted multiple schools. I think they get to be 4"? Anyway. Can rams be kept alone or do they need a community? What about Badis or an Neon Blue Gourami?

    Idea for a new tank

Ah, didn't think angels would be able to eat these fish as most grow to 2 inches (apparently) especially since angels grow taller than they do long. As for the number, I was planning on getting two to pair off. Didn't know it would be a problem not to have more. Do you have any suggestions...

    Idea for a new tank

I was hoping that keeping them in a group of 6 or more would help curb that desire. From what I have researched the black ruby barb seems to be the most mild mannered of the ones I have selected. The cherry barb appears to be similar to the black ruby barbs in behavior and temperament...

Anyone know of any good online fish stores?

You can check out Gunpowder Aquatics as well. Good selection.

    Idea for a new tank

Hello, I was wanting to start a different tank (for me). I am usually into fish I find more interesting than what you can get at the more mundane pet stores. Alas, these fish generally don't come in very "pretty" varieties. I have a 75G now with an African theme but would like something else...

It's all from a LFS. Malaysian driftwood pieces that were selected over a few weeks. I think he is going to look great! My Ctenopoma doesn't seem too sure of him. He "investigates" him frequently and then darts away when the bichir moves. The red tailed shark needs to go from this tank though...

Looking at starting a saltwater tank

So I have been looking. What kind of filtration is needed? Would a HOB or Canister filter do ok?

Looking at starting a saltwater tank

Would another invert be better? A little emerald crab or something of the like? Yeah I used to keep barbs in it. I dislike the hex tanks because you can never keep much but I thought this would be a neat idea for a small tank.

Looking at starting a saltwater tank

I will need to dig it out. I was waiting to see if I can even do salt with it. It's a 23x20x24 30 gallon hex. Pretty tight. I was looking at the two clowns and a pj cardinal as they seem to do ok alone. Sent from my SM-N910T using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Looking at starting a saltwater tank

Hey guys, I have been keeping freshwater fish for some time now. I am finally looking to delve into salt water. Some of my essential knowledge appears to transfer but not all. I would like to do something simple with a small footprint. I have a 30 gallon hex that seems to be appropriate...

My substrate really isn't that deep. Maybe an inch and a half? I just followed the general rule 1lb per gallon. I know some has been displaced by the wood though and is not a level floor. Also, good looking out. I have never thought of that although I haven't had any problems with my temperature...

Here's my 55. Nothing to write home about. The anacharis that is floating it there for an african butterfly fish. I want to find a more attractive solution.
